Is Agatha All Along gone for good? Series star Patti LuPone reveals if the project will be heading back to Disney Plus for a proper season 2.
Agatha All Along is a true underdog story, which is something the MCU hasn’t had for a long time. The series was berated the moment it was announced for Disney Plus, with the internet calling it a waste of time that nobody asked for. That tune changed when the project finally released, however. The show was a smash hit with critics and fans, with viewership even surpassing The Penguin, which was airing at the same time. This left many wondering if the show would come back for a season 2 following the unexpected success.
Sadly, it seems not every wish can be granted on the Witches Road. When discussing her role on Agatha All Along during a recent interview on Andy Cohen Live, Patti LuPone was asked if there was any possibility for the project coming back to Disney Plus for a season 2. The actress said, with no room for interpretation, that showrunner Jac Schaeffer has no interest in continuing the series.
“There won’t be one. Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season. [Schaffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She said, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”
The Future Of Agatha All Along
Just because Agatha All Along isn’t getting a season 2 doesn’t mean its story won’t continue in the MCU. As Patti LuPone recalled, Jac Schaeffer refused to do a second season for WandaVision. However, many key themes and plot points from the show were continued in Agatha All Along. While fans don’t know what Schaeffer will do next for the MCU, it’s possible that it will continue the stories of Agatha, Rio, Billy, and Jennifer Kale.
In fact, Agatha All Along may be continued even beyond Jac Schaeffer’s role at the studio. The Vision series will reportedly build off the events of WandaVision, serving as a soft ‘season 2’ for Paul Bettany’s synthezoid. Though whether any of the stars of Agatha All Along appear in the show is yet to be seen as development starts to ramp up.
