The 2025 box office proved difficult for many movies. Although fresh stories understandably struggled to entice audiences without the backing of popular predecessors, some movies with successful first installments also failed at the box office. One such movie was Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk’s latest action sequel, Nobody 2. The original post-pandemic action flick earned almost $60 million against a budget of $16 million, and understandably warranted a sequel. Alas, that sequel proved much less popular, grossing just $41 million against a $25 million budget.
However, in the modern film industry, a disappointing box office run has a chance at redemption when it finally makes its debut on streaming. After proving popular on Peacock at the end of last year, Nobody 2 recently arrived on the world’s biggest streamer, Netflix, and has become an instant hit. This is despite facing difficult competition from the vast and impressive catalog of movies on the streamer, including the recent arrival of Alan Ritchson’s latest sci-fi action outing, War Machine, which boasts a Predator-esque story of a man’s fight to survive against an ominous alien threat.
At the time of writing, Nobody 2 and War Machine are the first and second-placed titles on the Netflix charts, respectively. Other movies finding success on the charts include the 2025 blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth, the WWII courtroom drama Nuremberg, the discourse-dominating new documentary Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, recent Academy Award winner KPop Demon Hunters, and more.

How Did Critics Respond to ‘Nobody 2’?
Nobody 2 had a disappointing box office run, but was this down to a lack of quality? A “certified fresh” 76% score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes would disagree, with audiences awarding an even better 88%. The consensus on the site reads, “While frumpy action-hero Hutch Mansell tries to enjoy a nice vacation, Bob Odenkirk works overtime to make Nobody 2 a diverting sequel that measures up admirably to the original.” A synopsis for the sequel reads:
“Workaholic assassin Hutch Mansell takes his family on a much-needed vacation to the small tourist town of Plummerville. However, he soon finds himself in the crosshairs of a corrupt theme-park operator, a shady sheriff, and a bloodthirsty crime boss.”
Nobody 2 and War Machine are streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more.
