And just like that…HBO Max has quietly confirmed that ‘And Just Like That’ will conclude with its third season. The spin‑off and ‘Sex and the City’ revival —launched in December 2021 and gave fans a second chance to step into the world of Carrie Bradshaw and her closest friends.
The third and final season of AJLT will debut in August. The announcement came directly from showrunner Michael Patrick King, who noted that while writing the final episodes it became clear “this might be a wonderful place to stop.”
Rather than a sudden cancellation, the decision appears more considered than contractual. King, in collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys (HBO Max content chief), and Sarah Aubrey (HBO Originals), expanded the third season from the usual 10 episodes to a 12‑episode arc. The final two installments were crafted as a two‑part series finale set to air August 7 and August 14th.

The show reunited ‘Sex and the City’ original cast members Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte), while Kim Cattrall (the iconic Samantha Jones) declined involvement beyond a brief cameo at the close of Season 2.
And Just Like That also brought back David Eigenberg, Chris Noth, and Willie Garson in various capacities. Mario Cantone and Evan Handler were the only male SATC cast members to reprise their roles in a full-time capacity, though John Corbett returned from season 2 onward.
The series also brought a number of new faces, including Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Chris Jackson, as well as Sara Ramirez and Karen Pittman, who both exited after season 2.
Sarah Jessica Parker captured the bittersweet mood of the announcement in an emotional Instagram tribute, noting that “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years… MPK and I together recognized … this chapter complete.”
The series leaves behind more than just a complex continuation of its predecessor — it leaves a legacy of bold fashion moments, unforgettable dialogue, and an ever-evolving love letter to New York City.
Whether strutting through Soho in stilettos or searching for meaning on the Upper East Side, Carrie Bradshaw and her friends represented each of us as we made our way through love, life and careers.
The series will certainly be missed.
