The Takagi Kofun is one of a number of different Kofuns found in Assassin’s Creed Shadows; this one is located in the Harima region in a hostile area northwest of Amagasaki. As with the other Kofuns, only one character is able to enter the Kofun and complete it based on the tasks involved inside. In this case, you’ll have to play as Yasuke to get into the Kofun, using the explosives to blast open the barricade covering the entrance. It won’t be so simple for this Kofun, as it’s located in hostile territory.

Kofuns in AC Shadows are one of many different types of interactive locations with unique challenges or puzzles that reward a Knowledge Point and legendary pieces of gear. The reward for completing this Kofun is the legendary Death Blooms Teppo for Yasuke, and it is well worth the trouble of navigating through this Kofun. I recommend leveling up to at least 23 before venturing into Harima to try this Kofun out, as anything under that will be a bit of a challenge. Either way, there are enemies inside, so make sure you are properly equipped.

Takagi Kofun Location In AC Shadows & How To Get In

The Takagi Kofun Is Located In Harima At The Takagi Otsuka Fort

The Takagi Kofun is in the Harima region, situated between the Kanki Burned Fields, Miki, and the Kakogawa Estuary. The Mount Haba viewpoint is the closest fast travel location, and the Kofun is found directly west, inside the Takagi Otsuka Fort. You will have to enter this Kofun as Yasuke, as there is a barricade to the entrance. Unfortunately, the Kofun is positioned in the heart of hostile territory, and either Yasuke or Naoe will have to clear the enemies before entering. There are at least two large enemies patrolling the area, so be prepared for a tough fight.

The main things to look out for while completing the Takagi Kofun are to be careful when you approach and to make sure you’re leveled enough to deal with the enemies at the Takagi Otsuka Fort.

After eliminating the enemies in the area, you can pick up one of the jars at the top of the stairs and blow the barricade to gain access to the Takagi Kofun. Once you enter, you’ll travel a very long hallway down some steep stairs. At the bottom of these stairs is a long hallway with an open chamber full of enemies at the end. Yasuke can take them out with a silent arrow stealth attack if he’s buffed enough. Otherwise, you’ll need to clear the chamber before progressing into the Kofun.

A Fork In The Kofun; An Uncommon Reward

Once you’ve taken out the enemies, you’ll see a steep ramp directly in front of you, but you won’t be able to run up to the top. Instead, break the bamboo to the left and start following the pathway until you reach a dead end with a box full of some crafting and building materials. Turn around and you’ll see an opening that Yasuke can jump up to. Jump over the stones and then crawl forward until you see the tunnel branch to the left.

It always helps to light candles along the way to know where you’ve been inside a Kofun.

There’s some loot at the end here (an Uncommon Naginata). Otherwise, going straight you will run into a single enemy. After killing the enemy, the path will lead you to a fork. To the left is a bloodied ramp that you can’t climb. To the right, you’ll run into four enemies that you will need to kill to progress. Once defeated, head to the end of the hallway and stock up on ammo, then grab one of the oil jars to open the barricade back at the fork.

Move The Crates, Blow The Barricades

After blowing the barricade, follow the path forward until you climb a set of stairs and see some scaffolding straight ahead. Before going into that room, turn left and go grab the common engraving before moving ahead. In the scaffold room, you’ll need to go grab the crates from the end of the hallway and move it back to the chamber. Position the two crates as seen in the image above, then grab an oil jar and toss it up to the barricaded platform. Be careful how you blow up the jar, as it will probably cause you damage.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: All Yasuke Skills & What They Do

If you’re playing as Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll find it much easier to make the most of the character with the right abilities.

Head straight and crawl forward, then be prepared for another fight. There are about five different enemies to deal with in the next chamber, but after you deal with them, you can grab one of the oil pots from the platform and blow open the remaining barricade and open the legendary chest for the Death’s Bloom Teppo.

You’ll probably replace rare amulets later as you come across new gear, but keep an eye on each one you grab as they can still be extremely useful in the early game.

There’s also a hidden barricade in the hallway leading to the last chamber. If you double back and take a jar with you, the barricade is about halfway down the hallway. The path then leads to a chest with the Rare Unstoppable Giant Amulet, which has +45% Adrenaline Gain with consecutive enemy kills.

Now that you’ve picked up the Death’s Bloom Teppo, it’s likely going to be one of the very first legendary Teppo in your arsenal. The Death’s Bloom reload speed is what sets it apart, and you can maximize it even further with the Reload Speed Global Passives in the Teppo skill tree. Reload speed is one of the biggest barriers to using Teppo, and Death’s Bloom alleviates that significantly. While you may not have access to the best buffs for this Teppo just yet, there are many engravings in AC Shadows and other items that can buff Death’s Bloom substantially.

To recap, the main things to look out for while completing the Takagi Kofun are to be careful when you approach and to make sure you’re leveled enough to deal with the enemies at the Takagi Otsuka Fort. You’ll also need to bear in mind which rooms/chambers in the Kofun contain enemies, as it can be disorienting to face up to five enemies in such cramped quarters. The Takagi Kofun is just one of many of its type in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but the Death’s Bloom Teppo makes this worth the fight.
