Trinity Poague has been sentenced in the death of 18-month-old Jaxton Drew Williams.
In case you don’t remember this horrific case, we previously reported on how the then-18-year-old pageant queen from Georgia was left alone with the baby in her boyfriend dorm back in January 2024. Her boyfriend, who conflicting reports state he goes by Javante Smith as well as Julian Smith, left his Georgia Southwestern State University room, and in the time he was gone Poague delivered fatal injuries to the tot.
Reports from the time state the little one, whose legal name is Romeo Dru Angeles, had “serious disfigurement to his liver” and his brain was rendered “useless”. All this because she was allegedly jealous of the child being from another woman. Prosecutor Lewis Lamb told the court Friday that Poague wanted to have a baby with her boyfriend, “but not that child,” which prompted her to deliver “blunt-force trauma to the head and torso” to the little one.

Even with a “brain bleed” and “skull fracture” she still only admitted that she’d “shaken” the baby because he “wasn’t acting correctly” — which, a) how the F**K would shaking a child make them act RIGHT, and b) how are insane injuries like that going to come from just shaking him?! Ugh…
Poague was arrested and charged with two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated battery, one count of malice murder, and one count of cruelty to children. See her mugshot (below):
Now, justice has finally been served…
In a new video from Court TV on Friday, the now 20-year-old stood in front of the judge as he read off the verdict. At first, he revealed she’d been found not guilty of her malice murder charge, and she fell to her knees sobbing…
It almost looks like she thought she got off Scott-free! But that relieved sob quickly turned into stoic silence when the judge revealed she’d been found guilty of ALL other charges. Poague stood and stared blankly at the jurors as she heard this. Watch the video (below):

So she’s been found guilty of what she did to that poor infant — but what’s her sentence? In a second clip from Court TV, after some deliberation, they revealed Poague was sentenced to life in prison. The judge said simply:
“I don’t do a lot of speaking when I’m passing the sentence. The bottom line is you’re going to receive a sentence of life in prison, which is the appropriate sentence for the conduct that you have been convicted of.”
That’s not all, though! She was given an extra 20 years on top of that sentence.
Our heart breaks for Jaxton’s family, but we’re relieved that he finally got justice. We hope this brings them some semblance of peace amid their grief.
