Bethenny Frankel reacted to “miserable” people asking what her daughter would think about her wearing a “thong in a fashion show,” as the Real Housewives of New York alum revealed her recent call with her 15-year-old, Bryn Hoppy.
Last week, Bethenny walked the runway for the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show. The star wore several outfits, including a polka-dot thong. After the show, some critics slammed Bethenny on social media while others praised her.
In a June 1 Instagram post, Bethenny clapped back at the critics.
“So a few miserable people said, ‘What would your daughter say [about you wearing a thong in the fashion show]?’” expressed Bethenny. “And I know [what she would say] because the peanut just FaceTimed me. And she said, ‘Mama … I saw you. You did so good!’”
According to Bethenny, she corrected her by saying, “I did well.”
“She [then told me], ‘You have such a cute touch, Mama … You look [like] you were 30 years old,’” the star continued. “It was so sweet. So we know how my daughter would feel.”
“And you know what? She’s at an age where kids are hormones and they’re developing, and it’s [about] the skin and it’s the bodies, and they’re not used to their new bodies, and they’re not comfortable in their own skin,” she went on. “And other kids can be so cruel.”
Bethenny said the “spirit” of the fashion show was positive.
“[Bryn] was with her best friend because we’re moving, and so she was spending the weekend – her last weekend of school – with her friends, which is what I wanted for her,” she continued. “I wish she were [at the show] with this group because, like, the body positivity and the women, like, owning their bodies … was so amazing. And I want that for her.”
“She has the most beautiful body, and I want … to be on that runway with her,” she said. “[And show] her what that was like … I’m so happy. What a great experience.”
Over the video, the star wrote, “What my daughter would think of me being in a thong in a fashion show.”
