Billy Ray Cyrus wished daughter Miley Cyrus a happy birthday after a year of family drama.
“Happy Birthday Mile !!! Hope it’s the best one ever !” Billy Ray, 63, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 23, Miley’s 32nd birthday. “(I know I dropped the “y”. That’s what I called @mileycyrus most of her life. ❤️).”
Along with the sweet caption were several photos of Billy Ray and Miley, from when she was a baby, to Hannah Montana red carpets, to singing together at Glastonbury Festival in 2019.
Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, also shared a post celebrating her daughter via Instagram. “Happy Birthday Little!!!” she captioned her Saturday post. “Cannot believe you turn 32 today…. Time has gone by so fast…. Love you so much ❤️@mileycyrus.”

As for Miley and Billy Ray, the father-daughter duo have seemingly become estranged since his divorce from Tish in 2022 after about 30 years of marriage. Along with Miley, Tish and Billy share children Brandi, 36, Trace, 34, Braison, 29, and Noah, 24.
“The family dynamics haven’t been the same since the divorce, and now that Tish and Billy Ray are with other people, there’s even more division among them all,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in February.
Both Tish and Billy Ray have tied the knot again since their divorce. Tish wed Dominic Purcell in August 2023, while Billy Ray married Firerose in October 2023. The insider noted both Noah and Braison were invited to Tish’s wedding to Purcell and “opted not to go.”
According to the same source, Billy Ray has “tried reaching out to Miley many times and congratulated her on her Grammys,” as the “Flowers” singer took home her first Grammy earlier this year. The insider added Miley is “very close” to her mother, saying, “The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever.”
In June 2024, Miley told host David Letterman on an episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that she “inherited the narcissism from [her] father,” saying Billy Ray had “almost given me this map, and it’s a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s guided me on both.” She added, “Without my dad, I know … who I am as a person wouldn’t exist.”
In June, Us confirmed Billy Ray’s split from Firerose and decision to annul the marriage. “Miley, Noah, and their siblings really never understood the relationship and why Billy married her so abruptly. No one approved of the marriage,” a source exclusively told Us in June.
The insider added that Miley thought the divorce was “a good step in the right direction” for her dad. That same month, Billy Ray tagged Miley in a sweet throwback post via Instagram.
Complex relationships within the Cyrus family extend beyond Billy Ray and Miley. Us broke the news in February that Noah and Tish’s now-husband Purcell were previously romantically involved, which caused a rift between mother and daughter. However, Tish and Noah are now working through their issues.
“Noah and Tish are working on rebuilding their relationship,” a source exclusively revealed to Us in August. “It’s been a slow burn and has been very up and down the last several months, but Noah has been more open to the idea of having Tish in her life again.”
The same source told Us, “Tish has repeatedly reached out to Noah and has tried to be there for her since the drama unfolded. She really wants to have a good relationship with Noah and wants peace within the family. They are both ready to move on.”
