Boz Saint John’s show, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon, was canceled by NBC amid low ratings. Boz, who stars on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is a marketing executive who’s worked for several famous brands, including PepsiCo, Apple Music, and Uber.
Fallon created, hosted, and was an executive producer for the competition show, which showcased him beginning a marketing agency, as he filled it with “the most creative, clever, and competitive go-getters he can find.” Boz, who was the former CMO of Netflix, evaluated the contestants and mentored them.
According to Deadline, NBC decided to cancel Boz’s new show.
The show reportedly didn’t have good ratings, and its schedule was unusual. New episodes came out in the fall on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. and Fridays at 8 p.m., before some of the slots were taken over by the NBA.
In the show, competitors tried to create a great idea for a giant campaign for a major brand. [SPOILER ALERT] The winner of the first season was Briana Fernandez, a digital marketer. Her prize was $100,000, a trip to Cannes Lions, and an Adweek feature as she earned the title of Innovator of the Year.
Though Briana represented a wellness device company called Therabody, many other brands were also featured, including Dunkin’, Captain Morgan, Marshalls, KitchenAid, Samsung, Pillsbury, Southwest, and Sonic Drive-In.
Back in October, Boz revealed that her casting on RHOBH led to her position on On Brand.
“Jimmy’s wife was watching the show, and unbeknownst to me or anybody else, Jimmy had been trying to sell [On Brand] to NBC for two years,” said Boz at the time on The Breakfast Club. “And when he was pitching, they told him that he needed somebody to legitimize the show.”
She said Jimmy’s wife suggested Boz.
“He [then] watched the season. He was like, ‘You’re great.’ And so he called me. We had a meeting, and it just felt like the perfect culmination of everything,” she explained. “It’s been an incredible — it feels like divine alignment.”
Season 15 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills recently concluded.
