Searchlight Pictures has released a new Is This Thing On? trailer, previewing Bradley Cooper‘s upcoming comedy movie starring Will Arnett and Laura Dern. The film is set to premiere on December 19, 2025.
“After many years together, Alex and Tess have reached an amicable end to their marriage, thus beginning the awkward stage of figuring out how to live separately while raising two boys and maintaining their friendships,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Alex discovers a new hobby and, in the process, learns more about himself and his relationship.”

What happens in the Is This Thing On? trailer
Is This Thing On? follows the story of a couple who’s marriage begins to quietly unravel. Alex (Arnett), facing an impending divorce, tries his hand at being a stand-up comedian. Meanwhile, Tess (Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for family.
Alongside Arnett and Dern, Is This Thing On? also stars Andra Day, Bradley Cooper, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, and Scott Icenogle. The film comes from a screenplay co-written by Bradley Cooper, Arnett, and Mark Chappell. Cooper, Weston Middleton, Arnett, and Kris Thykier serve as producers on the project.
