Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly apologized after calling Miss Universe Mexico Fátima Bosch “dumb” during the lead-up to the 2025 pageant.

A shocking Miss Universe dispute boiled over in public at the annual sash ceremony in November 2025 when Itsaragrisil complained specifically about Bosch not taking part in a photo shoot to promote the pageant and its 2025 host country, Thailand.

When Bosch stood up to dispute his complaints, Itsaragrisil publicly called for security to stop her. Viral footage captured utter disarray as Bosch walked out of the ceremony alongside several other contestants, including Miss Universe 2024 winner Victoria Kjær Theilvig.

“I think the world needs to see this, because we are empowered women and this platform is for our voices,” Bosch told reporters outside the venue. “No one can silence it. No one will silence me.”

Us Explains the dispute between Itsaragrisil and Bosch below.

Who Is Miss Universe Executive Nawat Itsaragrisil?

Itsaragrisil is a popular — yet controversial — Thai TV personality who initially rose to fame by hosting a series of travel documentaries.

He officially joined Miss Thailand World in 2007 as both an executive producer and director and later held various other executive positions within the pageant world.

As of November 2025, Itsaragrisil served as the president of the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI) and vice president of Miss Universe Asia, according to his Instagram bio. He took control of the Miss Universe Thailand brand in 2025.

What Did Nawat Itsaragrisil Say About Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch?

A dispute over social media promotion of Miss Universe’s 2025 host country, Thailand, exploded into full view of the public ahead of the event on November 21, 2025.

Itsaragrisil had a verbal altercation with Miss Universe Mexico contestant Fátima Bosch at the annual sash ceremony, which was streamed live on Facebook from Thailand, on November 3, 2025. The Miss Universe executive took issue with the way some contestants were reluctant to “promote the host country” on social media.

“Be careful. You are in Thailand,” he warned. “You are in a game.”

Itsaragrisil specifically criticized Bosch for allegedly refusing to take part in a photo shoot to promote Thailand. Bosch stood up to deny that she’d followed the orders of Mexico’s pageant director to avoid social media posts about Thailand.

“No, you must listen to me first, then argue with me,” Itsaragrisil demanded.

Bosch asked Itsaragrisil to treat her with respect, adding that “it’s not my fault you have problems with my [Mexico] organization.”

During their argument, Itsaragrisil allegedly suggested Bosch was a “dumbhead” if she continued following her “national director’s orders.” (“Dumbhead” is an insult that means “fool” or “empty-headed.”)

Bosch then walked out of the ballroom in protest, with several other contestants — including Miss Universe 2024 winner Victoria Kjær Theilvig — following her.

“Stop,” Itsaragrisil commanded. “No. Stop.”

At one point, Itsaragrisil even threatened to call in security to restore order at the ceremony.

How Did Fatima Bosch Respond to Argument With Nawat Itsaragrisil?

Bosch spoke to reporters outside the ballroom to share her side of the story.

“As a country, [Thailand has] all my respect,” she insisted. “I truly love Thailand. I respect all of you. I think that you are amazing people but what your director just did is not respectful.”

Bosch went on, “[Itsaragrisil] called me ‘dumb’ because he has problems with the organization. I think that’s not fair because … I don’t mess with anybody. I just try to be kind. I’m trying to give my best.”

Miss Universe Mexico 2025 vowed not to let Itsaragrisil’s conduct cast a shadow over her reign.

“It doesn’t matter if you have a big dream or a crown,” Bosch said. “If it takes away your dignity, you should walk away.”

How Did Miss Universe Respond to the Controversy?

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) confirmed the pageant would move forward by honoring the “values of diversity, empowerment, and inclusion.”

“The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) reaffirms its commitment to work closely with the host community, the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI), and all local partners to ensure the success of the 74th edition of the pageant. A high-level delegation, led by the MUO’s CEO, Mr. Mario Búcaro, is traveling to Thailand to strengthen collaboration with the host country, MGI, and relevant authorities,” the MUO statement read. “All scheduled events and activities will take place as planned, reaffirming our shared goal of delivering a global celebration that reflects the values of diversity, empowerment, and inclusion that define the legacy of Miss Universe.”

Miss Universe president Raul Rocha Cantu offered his “solidarity and support” with all of the contestants in a video statement.

“I will not allow the values of respect and dignity toward women to be violated. Unfortunately, Nawat has forgotten the true meaning of what it means to be a genuine host,” Rocha acknowledged. “It means to demonstrate to all delegates of all countries that he, as a host, has the obligation to serve them, assist them and support them. And to ensure they have a unique life experience filled with kindness and courtesy.”

Miss Universe 2024 winner Kjær Theilvig — who walked out of the sash ceremony with Bosch and others — also told the media that the root of the controversy was about “women’s rights.”

“We respect everyone, but this is not how things should be handled. Insulting another contestant is a huge lack of respect, and I would never do that,” she said. “That’s why I’m putting on my coat and leaving.”

Has Nawat Itsaragrisil Publicly Apologized Fatima Bosch?

Yes. Itsaragrisil broke his silence via Instagram on November 4, 2025, to acknowledge the complaints about his conduct.

“If anyone [was] feeling not good, if anyone [was] not comfortable. If anyone [was effected], I do apologize for everyone,” he said.

Itsaragrisil promised to maintain a “higher standard” of conduct among the Miss Universe 2025 executives and delegates moving forward.
