EXCLUSIVE: Stranger Things duo Brett Gelman and Rob Morgan and former SNL star Kevin Nealon are rounding out the cast of Mini War, the feature comedy starring Luke Wilson, Vanessa Hudgens and Nick Swardson.
The trio have joined the film, which comes from the team behind stoner cult comedy Grandma’s Boy with Swardson and Allen Covert writing the script and Joel David Moore directing.
Mini War stars Wilson as Joe, a likable stoner who unexpectedly inherits a mini golf course from his late uncle. Eager to sell the course and get his life back on track, Joe sets out to find a buyer who will maintain his uncle’s legacy but Darren, played by Swardson, the owner of the go-cart track across the street, has other plans. Darren wants to bulldoze the minigolf course to expand his go carting empire and fulfill his NazzKart dream.
Hudgens plays Olivia, who runs the Who Let the Hot Dogs Out food stand off the highway between the two courses. She, along with a group of eccentric locals, find themselves caught in the middle of Darren and Joe’s dueling agendas that erupt into all-out war.
Gelman plays Ned Parker, an eccentric investor from Milwaukee eager to take the mini golf course Joe inherited off his hands. Morgan plays Ruben, the manager of the mini golf course who helped build the course with Joe’s late uncle.
The cast also includes Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), Blake Anderson (Workaholics), John Farley (Little Nicky), Tobias Jelinek (Baskets), Romy Malviya (Gunpoint), Sharon Azrieli (Kaet Might Die), JB Yowell (The Leader), Katherine Lunam (Kaet Might Die), Nicholas Turturro (The Longest Yard), and Morgan Kohan (Sullivan’s Crossing).
The film is being produced by Jarod Einsohn, Joel David Moore of Balcony 9 Productions and Limor Hakim of Level 1 Entertainment along with Grandma’s Boy producers, Bill Todman, Jr. and Edward Milstein of Level 1 Entertainment, as well as David Wachs and Ojan Missaghi of Toric Films.
Capture Entertainment has acquired the worldwide film sales rights.
