Bruce Willis has never been one to think about his legacy, according to his wife Emma Heming Willis.
The 70-year-old actor has had an incredible career in Hollywood, but a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia changed everything.
But when it comes to looking at his “legacy” in the entertainment industry, Emma, 49, admitted that he never thought too much about it.
“I don’t know that he ever has [reflected on his legacy],” Emma told People in an exclusive interview at the End Well 2025 conference in Los Angeles.
“I don’t think that he’s ever harped or thought long and hard about who he is, what he’s done,” she continued.
“I think he’s just always enjoyed being an actor, entertaining people.”
Emma added that the actor has always been a “passion” of his and something he “really loved.”

She added that’s a big part of what she loves about him, adding that he’s “always so humble.”
Bruce rose to fame in the ’80s, landing his first big role in the TV series Moonlighting.
He won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy, during the show’s five-season run.
He went on to star in huge projects like Pulp Fiction, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense and of course, one of his most notable roles in the Die Hard film series.
But he retired from acting in 2022, after being diagnosed with aphasia, the condition has since progressed to frontotemporal dementia.
The news of his health battle and retirement was first shared by his daughters, Rumer Willis, Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis, whom he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore, plus Mabel Willis and Evelyn Willis, whom he shares with Hemming.
In recent months, Hemming has been sharing updates about their life and how they are all coping with the diagnosis.

Speaking with Vogue Australia, she opened up about the toll his health journey has had on their children.
“I think they’re doing well, all things considered. But it’s hard,” she told the publication of their daughters Mabel Ray, 14, and Evelyn Penn, 11, who were 10 and eight when their dad was first diagnosed.
“They grieve. They miss their dad so much. He’s missing important milestones. That’s tough for them.”
Emma recently revealed Bruce is now living in his own home, close to the one he and Emma shared with their two children.
The new place, which Emma says is the family’s “second home”, is a nearby one-story property designed specifically for his needs with access to round-the-clock care.
Emma has spoken about how heartbreaking it was to make the decision to move Bruce, although the aim was to create a safer space for him.
“It’s heartbreaking to me. But this is how we were able to support our whole family, [and] it has opened up Bruce’s world,” Emma told People.
