Carole Radziwill explained her decision to return to The Real Housewives of New York City on Tuesday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, which aired after the premiere of season 16.
As she also revealed which of her castmates she knew in advance and explained how she was different from season 10, when viewers last saw her, Carole, 63, shared her thoughts on newbie Hailey Glassman, 39, offered an update on ex-boyfriend Adam Kenworthy, 41, spoke of a recent run-in with Real Housewives of Rhode Island star Alicia Carmody, 41, and more.
“I think more than anything, the fans manifested this,” Carole explained of her RHONY comeback on the September 8 episode of WWHL. “Because it definitely wasn’t on my radar, and I don’t think it was on [Andy Cohen‘s]. I know people might think that we had some agenda, but we absolutely didn’t. And coming out of BravoCon, like the love I felt and the energy, it was pretty tremendous. And I think kind of, the universe lined up.”
After noting that she didn’t watch the show after she left, Carole confirmed she had known Erin Lichy, 39, “for a few years” before filming began on season 16.
“I had met [Jessel Taank]. I had met [Sai de Silva]. I met [Daisy Toye],” she continued.
As for how she was different than before, Carole laughed, “I feel like I’m the cast drunk this time. I never drank before. I’m just like a party girl. I’m very loose.”
Following her return to RHONY, Carole was pleasantly surprised to meet Hailey.
“I think I met her in episode two, and I just, I didn’t understand a thing she was saying,” Carole admitted. “I thought she was in a throuple cuz she was talking about a girlfriend, but she was married. We just couldn’t follow the story. But the more you get to know her, the more you love her, and I love a character. She’s quite lovable. I think [her stories] don’t sometimes track. But I love that.”
After revealing she was on Erin’s side amid her feud with Jessel, 46, which was based around things they had said behind one another’s backs, and adding that she “[didn’t] think” Jessel’s friendship with Sai, 45, would last, Carole confirmed she was still in touch with Adam.
“Yes, we do [speak]. He has two kids. We still talk. He’s like family,” she gushed.
Also on the live broadcast, Carole recalled a run-in she had with Alicia.
“I was drinking a coffee on a random park bench, and an SUV pulled up, and the window unrolled in the back, and this woman was screaming. I think she was saying, ‘People say I look like you’ or something like that. It took me a moment to realize who she was because I had met her at Bluestone Manor,” she shared.
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Carole recalled suspecting that late cousin Carolyn Bessette Kennedy would have enjoyed seeing her on RHONY.
“I think she would’ve gotten a kick out of my RHONY career, for sure. [She would not have made an appearance] but she would’ve loved it … she had such a great sense of humor about things, about life, and so she would’ve gotten a kick out of it,” Carole stated.
She then admitted that if her late husband, Anthony Radziwill, hadn’t died, she would have “never” joined the show.
The Real Housewives of New York City season 16 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
