Marvel is hosting a livestream video that is most likely connected to Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. The movie is now kicking off production and will be released in theaters next year.
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube page started a livestream video titled “ANNOUNCEMENT.” The video first showed a glimpse of a chair with Chris Hemsworth’s name on it before it panned over to another chair with Vanessa Kirby’s name and then to a third one with Anthony Mackie.
While there’s not yet any official confirmation on the matter at the time of this article’s publication, the announcement is likely revealing the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, given that the movie is starting production and Kirby was already expected to appear in the film.

What else do we know about Avengers: Doomsday?
Official plot details for Avengers: Doomsday remain under wraps at this time. Along with Kirby and Hemsworth, the film will star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom/Victor von Doom. Downey Jr. previously played Tony Stark/Iron Man in the MCU, though that character died in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Hemsworth has played Thor in the MCU since 2011. His most recent outing was Marvel Studios‘ Thor: Love and Thunder, which was released in 2022, though archival footage of his character was also used in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Mackie plays Captain America/Sam Wilson, with the character recently having led Captain America: Brave New World.
Kirby, meanwhile, will make her MCU debut as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025. That movie, directed by Matt Shakman, also stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and more.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on May 7, 2027.
