Bec Judd, 43, has issued a fiery message to Gen Z influencers after she and her fellow Millennials were labelled “too old” to attend the Coachella music festival.
“We created this scene, we were the first attendees of these festivals and our peers were the first deejays, promoters… the people creating these festivals,” Judd said in the latest episode of her Vain-Ish podcast.
“So when Gen Z are like ‘what are you doing here?’ It’s like mate, you wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for us,” she stated.

Judd was joined on her podcast by co-host Jessie Roberts, 34, plus broadcaster Lauren Phillips, 39 and fellow former footy WAG Jessie Murphy, 35.
The podcasters discussed a question submitted to their show by a listener who asked for their thoughts on the idea that “those over 40 don’t belong.”
“40’s, you definitely belong. There was definitely more 30 and 40 year olds,” Judd was quick to respond.

“There’s 60 year olds, there’s 70 year olds there… if you actually go to Coachella, you will see that it’s not a young people’s event.”
She went on to add that her Gen Z counterparts in attendance were also not as fully present as older generations, focussed more on capturing the event than experiencing it.
“The young influencers… that demographic, they’re kind of just there to work to get the photos,” she revealed.
“They don’t even look at the act, they’ve just got their phones up the entire time. All the millennials are the ones dancing and having fun.”
“I think that’s something people don’t really understand about Coachella,” she added. “They think oh, you’re too old for that.”
But according to Judd, the opposite is true – and people her age and older should not be deterred from attending.

She went on to list a slew of acts at the festival who were targeted at older generations; such as David Burns, Iggy Pop, David Guetta and Fat Boy Slim.
“And the thing is that these festivals and this whole scene doesn’t exist without Millennials and Gen X,” Judd pointed out.

“If you’re over forty, 100 percent you belong. If you’re over 50, 100 percent.”
The host then cheekily pointed out that those within that age range “do not need a payment plan,” like most Gen Z-ers might.
