Cyberpunk 2077 Celebrating 5th Anniversary With Special Event And Free Prizes

It has been five years since Cyberpunk 2077 came out, and developer CD Projekt Red is celebrating with a special community event in which participants can win prizes, including an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. The game’s official fifth birthday was on December 10, but the celebration runs through the rest of the month and into the New Year.

In honor of its fifth anniversary, Cyberpunk 2077 is hosting the City of Legends Photo Mode Contest, in which players can enter to win prizes by posting screenshots in a thread on the game’s official forum or on its Discord server. The screenshot parameters are very broad, hoping to be a celebration of Night City by having players capture screenshots of “the folks whose names echo through stories, the places where landmarks became myth… Is it a person, a place, or a vibe that evokes the city’s legendary status? Whatever left a lasting impression on those who dwell in Night City.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Some Big Anniversary Plans

Cyberpunk 2077‘s latest triumph has been its availability on PlayStation Plus, where the subscription service led to a boost in sales of DLC expansion Phantom Liberty. The RPG has proven incredibly popular even five years after its notoriously rough launch, and the City of Legends Photo Mode Contest is sure to rally the fanbase.

Entering the contest is simple; all you have to do is post a screenshot in the dedicated forum thread or the Discord’s #city-of-legends-contest channel (links above). Entry into the contest is open until January 11, 2026, and winners will be announced on February 6. There will be 10 winners in total – one grand prize winner and nine runners-up.

You Could Win An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

The grand prize is by far the most lucrative: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. The grand prize winner will also receive a Cyberpunk 2077 figurine and a Displate poster (no further details on these are available), but the graphics card is clearly the big draw. Full rules for the contest have been provided by CD Projekt Red, and the grand prize’s estimated value is $2,840. The nine runners-up will receive the figurine poster.

The 5090 grand prize is fitting for a game like Cyberpunk, which has been on the cutting edge of graphics since its release in 2020. You’ll need a high-end graphics card if you want to play with computer-melting graphics overhauls or turn on absolutely every bell and whistle and still get a high number of frames at 4K. There’s only one 5090 being handed out for the Cyberpunk 2077 anniversary contest, though, and screenshots are already rolling in en masse.
