Cyberpunk 2077 players have been waiting patiently for a new update on Project Orion, the official new sequel in the works at CD Projekt Red. While fans will definitely be in for a bit of a wait, there’s a new Cyberpunk 2077 release that just dropped, and fans of the beloved Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated Netflix show will be especially excited about this one.
Cyberpunk 2077 fans are getting a brand-new prequel release that takes players back before the events of the video game, expanding the world of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and it’s officially available to grab now.
Cyberpunk 2077’s New Edgerunners Prequel Just Dropped
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 is officially available in stores and online via the Dark Horse website now. The full volume trade paperback version of the comic series has been available for pre-order for months, but is finally shipping this month, with fans starting to receive their pre-order copies already.
If you’re a fan of the beloved Netflix series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the MADNESS comic book series is a must-read entry in the franchise that takes players back to Night City in an action-packed adventure. The series is written by Bartosz Sztybor, the screenwriter for the Edgerunners anime series, with art by Asano, who is renowned for his manga adaptation of Studio Trigger’s BNA: Brand New Animal.
Just like the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime show, MADNESS serves as an official prequel to Cyberpunk 2077 that takes place prior to the events of the game and alongside the events of the show. It’s a massive 200-page manga comic that’s described as follows:
Rebecca and her big brother Pilar pursue their dream of becoming a legendary edgerunner just like their father. And in Night City, where violence, greed, and corruption run rampant, they’ll have to abandon who they once were and dive headlong into the mayhem, where they’ll struggle, suffer, and sow chaos everywhere they go! But when a mysterious man appears, the trajectory of their future takes a turn.

It’s currently listed for roughly $15 and is a 5 x 7″ standard edition paperback, with an official hardcover copy sure to release in the coming months.
