Dancing With the Stars alum Lindsay Arnold is going to be a boy mom!
Arnold, 31, announced on Sunday, December 14, that she and her husband, Sam Cusick, recently found out the sex of their third baby. (Arnold and Cusick, 31, already share daughters Sage, 5, and June, 2.)
“We feel so beyond grateful and blessed to be bringing our first boy into this world,” Arnold captioned an Instagram video of the reveal. “Our girls cannot wait and ask everyday how much longer until baby brother is here.”
Arnold and Cusick found out the baby’s sex before telling Sage and June.
“We opened our results together and in private, but I wish y’all could have heard/seen Sam’s excited ‘YESS!!!!!!’ when I read boy to him,” the mirrorball champ wrote in her caption. “He is the best girl dad and I just know he is going to be the most amazing boy dad. Our son is so lucky.”
After finding out the sex, Arnold and Cusick organized a special reveal for their daughters. While June was hopeful for a baby sister, Sage wanted a brother.
“Because we don’t have any boys,” the 5-year-old told her mom of her logic.
Arnold had Sage and June jointly pop a black balloon, revealing an array of blue confetti inside.
“You’re going to have a baby brother,” Cusick told his kids, who promptly celebrated by tossing the streamers in the air.
Arnold announced her pregnancy last month.
“Baby Cusick #3 is on the way,” she captioned maternity pics via Instagram. “We could not feel more blessed, grateful, and excited. We love you so much already baby and we can’t wait to meet you!!”
Days later, Arnold detailed the “hiccups in the road” during her pregnancy.
“Things have been awesome, but it’s been interesting,” she said in a TikTok video shared on November 25. “With both Sage and June’s pregnancies, I had what’s called a subchorionic hematoma, where essentially you have a blood clot in your uterus. It will release during those first couple weeks [and] months of pregnancy, and you bleed a lot. It’s scary because you’re just bleeding in early pregnancy.”
According to Arnold, her previous experiences with the hematomas have been “pretty harmless.”
“I’ve had that happen two times now [on] two separate occasions where I bleed quite a bit for a period of time,” the dancer explained. “Because this happened to me so many times, I feel pretty confident and OK about it, but it’s still something [where] you’re like, ‘I think everything’s OK but you never know.’”
Arnold further stated that fears about developing another blood clot had been the “only hiccups in the road” during her pregnancy.
“It’s something that I’m used to because it happened before,” Arnold added. “Both times everything was OK [and] basically I just had to pass that blood clot, and then everything was good.”
Fears aside, Arnold had a relatively easy first trimester.
“I don’t feel 100 percent, but I don’t feel miserable either. I think the biggest symptom is that I get tired in the afternoons,” she recalled in her social media video. “I’m really trying to stay strong and keeping up with my morning workouts and get into that session. For me, mentally, it’s just the best thing ever.”
