Disney Reveals Awesome New Details About VILLAINS LAND at Magic Kingdom — GeekTyrant

The land’s other headliner will be a dark ride featuring multiple Disney Villains, with the Magic Mirror acting as the host.

Guests will encounter the Mirror in the catacombs beneath the Evil Queen’s immaculate palace. From there, he’ll transport riders into his supernatural Mirror Realm, where they’ll come face-to-face with numerous Disney Villains conjured within this strange dimension.

Imagineering plans to use a mixture of physical sets and special effects to create the Mirror Realm and its characters. It sounds like the attraction is being designed as a showcase for Disney’s rogues gallery, which could make it a ridiculously fun ride if Imagineers take full advantage of the characters at their disposal.

May shared her excitement for what the team is creating with Disney Parks Blog: “Villains Land is such an exciting addition to the Magic Kingdom, because it allows us to expand the park’s storytelling in a way that feels both fresh and true to its legacy and fairytale roots.

“We have an incredibly talented and passionate team working behind the scenes every day to make sure this land captures the power, magic, and mischievous (and sometimes humorous) spirit of the Disney Villains, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see that fans are just as excited as we are for what’s ahead.”

The road to Villains Land started publicly at D23 2024, when Disney officially announced the project and released its first concept art along with early looks at the attractions, dining, and shopping planned for the area.

Former Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro teased the ambition behind the project at the time, saying: “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”

Disney offered another look at the creative process during Destination D23 in 2025. Imagineers explained that development began by digging into the original animated films and studying the artistry that made Disney’s villains and their worlds so memorable.

The team also traveled to Paris and Barcelona while developing the land’s architectural style. Art Nouveau and Modernisme became major sources of inspiration, particularly their rich colors, flowing natural patterns, and imposing proportions.

That research eventually led Imagineering to create the term “Conjured Architecture,” which now serves as a guiding principle for the visual design of Villains Land.

The idea fits directly into the land’s mythology. These structures are meant to look as though villains created them through corrupted magic rather than conventional construction. That gives Imagineers the freedom to build exaggerated castles, palaces, and fortresses that visually reflect the characters who inhabit them.

There’s still a lot Disney hasn’t revealed. We don’t know which additional villains will call the land home, which characters will appear in the Magic Mirror attraction, what makes the Maleficent coaster technically different from Disney’s previous rides, or what exactly will be waiting inside the restaurants and shops.

What we do know is that Disney is thinking much bigger than simply putting a few villain-themed rides together.

Villains Land is being developed as its own corrupted fairytale world, and if Disney and Imagineering can pull off everything they’re describing, Villains Land could easily become a must-visit part of Walt Disney World.
