Yelena Belova is taking a fantastic voyage in Avengers: Doomsday! The latest rumor reveals that Florence Pugh’s heroine may be tagging along with a new team.
Back when Thunderbolts released, fans thought they had a pretty solid idea of what Avengers: Doomsday would look like. The Avengers team formed by Anthony Mackie’s Captain America would be taking on the X-Men invading the Sacred Timeline, while the New Avengers led by Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova would work with the Fantastic Four on some kind of multiversal mission.
However, the latest rumor may throw a wrench into those ideas. A while back, Hollywood insider DanielRPK revealed that Yelena Belova won’t actually be with the New Avengers during the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Rather, Florence Pugh will be joining Anthony Mackie in the film’s A-Plot, tagging along with the true Avengers across the multiverse.
Florence Pugh’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
This old rumor became new with a recent post from DanielRPK clarifying the intent of his words. The scooper revealed that this didn’t mean that Florence Pugh’s character would be abandoning the New Avengers. Rather, just that Yelena Belova will be paired with a different set of heroes leading into the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
This, admittedly, makes sense. Florence Pugh is one of the most acclaimed actors in the Avengers: Doomsday cast, so it makes sense Marvel would put her with the other heavy hitters. Also, if the rumor mill is right about the actual plot of the film, it would also make thematic sense for the former Black Widow to tag along with the Avengers.
