Doomsday’ & ‘Secret Wars’ Runtime Estimated By The Russo Brothers

Will fans need a bathroom break for Avengers: Doomsday? The Russo Brothers break down the runtime of their Secret Wars duology in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars have an absolute metric tons of loose ends to tie up. The Multiverse Saga presented an unprecedentedly rapid expansion in the MCU, introducing new elements left and right. While those gambles certainly paid off when it came to bringing certain obscure characters to the silver screen, it does mean that the Russo Brothers have their work cut out for them when putting together what might be the two biggest movies in Marvel’s history.

Though Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars don’t only have to tie together every thread established on the silver and small screens of the Multiverse Saga. Rather, the Russo Brothers also have to contend with worlds outside of the mainline MCU, such as Fox’s X-Men universe, Sony’s Spider-Verse, and every other Marvel movie outside of them. This has left many wondering how long the movies will have to be to accommodate any of this.

How Long Will Avengers: Doomsday Be?

Surprisingly, it seems as though the Russo Brothers already have an estimated runtime for the films. When speaking about how long Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars will end up being in a recent chat with Collider, the director duo revealed that the Multiverse Saga capstones won’t be too much longer than their other projects in the MCU.

“If I were a betting man, I would say the first one is two and a half,” Joe Russo remarked. “And the second one’s three hours.”

This runtime estimate is rather impressive, especially given how down to the wire the script for Avengers: Doomsday was for being developed, and how (presumably) Secret Wars isn’t even written. Of course, it’s possible that the Russo Brothers change their mind in the edit bay and make either movie longer or shorter. But it certainly seems as though the MCU’s Multiverse Saga won’t end too much bigger than Marvel’s last arc.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
