Emma Stone was seen beaming after being called by her real name for the first time in public.
During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, where the actress is promoting her new film Kinds of Kindness, one journalist cut through the noise by yelling out “Emily”, the actress’ real name.
The actress then beamed after hearing her real name, turning to the film’s director, Yorgos Lanthimos, and excitedly saying, “That’s my name!”, as per People.

It comes just weeks after the La La Land star admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that she “can’t” be called by her stage name anymore.
The topic came up during an interview she did with The Hollywood Reporter alongside her The Curse costar, Nathan Fielder, who paused the interview to explain that he would be calling her Emily throughout the interview.
Stone then explained that she changed her name to Emma Stone professionally because her real name was taken by another actress.

According to US acting union SAG-AFTRA’s policies, they urge that “no member uses a professional name which is the same as, or resembles so closely as to tend to be confused with, the name of any other member,” to minimalise personal or individual risk of liability
”Then I freaked out a couple of years ago,” she admitted. “For some reason, I was like, “I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.”
‘When I get to know them, people that I work with do [call me Emily],” she explained further.

The Oscar-winning actress was asked if she would correct a fan for calling her Emily.
“No. That would be so nice,” she said. “I would like to be Emily.”
It seems like her wish has been granted!
