Famous Musicians: Then and Now including Elton John, Stevie Nicks and Barbra Streisand

Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks, Stevie Nicks is known for both her solo work and for being a part of the iconic group Fleetwood Mac.

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, she’s taken the world by storm thanks to her signature vocals and era-defining outfits, having first got her start in the industry back in the 1970s.

Rolling Stone have labelled the singer “the queen of California rock” and she’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times, which is no mean feat. 

She worked on music with Lindsay Buckingham, before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975 in a move that changed her life and pivoted her to superstar status. Buckingham was also in the band on guitar and vocals.

Fleetwood Mac are known for hit songs including Dreams, Go Your Own Way and Little Lies.

The lineup also included Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, as well as Christine McVie.

Go Your Own Way, written by Buckingham, was said to have been inspired by his on-off relationship with Nicks. 

Nicks once told Rolling Stone about the song, which is on the Rumours album, and Buckingham: “I very much resented him telling the world that ‘packing up, shacking up’ with different men was all I wanted to do. He knew it wasn’t true. It was just an angry thing that he said.”

“Every time those words would come onstage, I wanted to go over and kill him. He knew it, so he really pushed my buttons through that. It was like, ‘I’ll make you suffer for leaving me.’ And I did.”
