Over a year after this underrated fantasy series debuted on small screens to glowing reviews and significant viewership success, fans have eagerly been anticipating news of its return. Unfortunately, there has been no promising update on the show being renewed. The said show is Nautilus, a 10-part reimagining of Jules Verne‘s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, which was initially set to stream on Disney+ but was shelved. It eventually went on to premiere on Prime Video and AMC, both of which have recently seen fans return to revisit the easy-to-binge series amid anticipation for a Season 2 renewal.
Nautilus is regaining popularity on AMC in the US, becoming one of the ten most-watched shows on the streamer nationwide for the past few days. The adventure series is also trending internationally on Prime Video, particularly in Turkey. As fans already know, after filming concluded in August 2023, it was announced that Disney+, the original distributor of Nautilus, would not release the series. Later in October, AMC acquired the series for broadcast in North America, where it premiered on June 29, 2025, while Prime Video acquired it for the UK and Ireland in August 2024, where it premiered on October 25, 2024.
In Nautilus, Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince portrayed by Shazad Latif, is stripped of his birthright and family and becomes a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company. Bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him, he audaciously steals a prototype submarine from the penal colony in which he is imprisoned, the Nautilus, escaping into the ocean with a motley crew of fellow prisoners. As Nemo sets out on an unforgettable adventure across (and under) the high seas, he is pursued by the ruthless East India Mercantile Company, who will do whatever it takes to stop him.

Created, written, and executive produced by James Dormer, Nautilus also stars Georgia Flood as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville as Loti, and Thierry Fremont as Benoit, with guest appearances from Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor. The fantasy drama was developed and produced by Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucker. Other EPs attached include Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock, and Daisy Gilbert. Michael Matthews directed.
