EXCLUSIVE: Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks has locked a series of distribution deals on the Spanish thriller Under Your Feet (Bajo tus pies), which debuted at Tallinn Black Nights.
The film has sold to VerCine for what has been described as a wide theatrical release in Spain. The distributor has said the film will open on 120-150 screens from May 8, 2026.
Under Your Feet has also been sold to Nashe Kino for Russia/CIS for a theatrical release and Entermode for a cinema release in Korea.
The film was produced by Carlos Juarez of Basque Films and follows Isabel (Maribel Verdu), who moves with her two children into a very Prestigious building that has a very peculiar admission method, but at a very affordable rental fee. Once approved and settled, three elderly neighbors from the lower floor will turn their lives upside down.
Cristian Bernard directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ana Villar. Starring alongside Verdú are Sofía Otero, Urko Olazabal, Ibai Atanes, Zorion Eguileor, and Sandra Ferrús.
“This is a remarkably exquisite and visually sophisticated cinematic gem that aims to target fantasy/adventure lovers specially for audiences that are looking for stories that resemble the cinema we all fell in love with, like The Goonies, Super 8, and Stranger Things,” Guido Rud of Filmsharks said in a statement. “We are already seeing how remake hunters are haunting this gem.”
