The Human torch is taking a trip to space! Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal sit at the center of the latest image released from The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The first teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps stands out in fans’ minds for many reasons. There were a lot of truly spectacular moments, but perhaps none has stuck in the cultural consciousness more-so than Joseph Quinn floating above the Earth. The capstone of a thrilling chase sequence with the Human Torch and Silver Surfer, it seems to truly represent the feeling of “awe” the film hopes to capture when it hits theaters.
Yet it seems that the chase isn’t the only moment that the Human Torch will be in space. The latest promotional image for The Fantastic Four: First Steps shows off Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal floating alongside each other in a space shuttle. It’s currently unclear if this image comes from before or after the team gets their powers. Though, given the logo on their costumes, it more than likely comes after their accident.

Joseph Quinn’s Role As The Human Torch
It’s clear that Joseph Quinn is taking the Human Torch in a very different direction than past interpretations. While the character is still a hothead, The Fantastic Four: First Steps seems to be moving away from the womanizing angle often taken with his character. Some would say it’s an attempt to modernize the characters, others would say it’s simply smoothing out the texture that makes such an iconic character interesting.
Joseph Quinn is currently on set of Avengers: Doomsday, a project that will likely pick up directly after The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s not clear how big of a role the Human Torch will play in the upcoming crossover, but it’s more likely than not that he’ll serve as some major firepower on the side of good against Doctor Doom. Even if, sadly, Doctor Doom won’t be the main villain of Marvel’s First Family anytime soon.
