America is celebrating a milestone birthday this Fourth of July, and there’s no better place to spend Independence Day than Los Angeles.
As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, Southern California is pulling out all the stops! Whether you’re looking to spend the day at the beach, catch a Dodgers game, or end the evening beneath dazzling fireworks, here’s our guide to some of the biggest events happening around Los Angeles this holiday weekend.
Few traditions feel more American than baseball, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are home for the holiday weekend as they continue their series against the San Diego Padres. Dodger Stadium is expected to be one of the city’s busiest destinations, combining baseball, patriotic festivities, and one of baseball’s most electric atmospheres. Not to mention their annual fireworks display!

No Independence Day celebration is complete without music under the stars! a At the iconic Hollywood Bowl, The Beach Boys, with special guest John Stamos, celebrate America’s 250th birthday July 2 – 4. They’ll be joined by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for a set that will include the band’s greatest summer hits, as well as a 60th anniversary tribute to fan favorite album, Pet Sounds. All three concerts will include a fireworks show.
At Great Park Live (Irvine), Pacific Symphony’s SummerFest 2026 opens with a celebration of America’s 250th birthday! Stirring patriotic favorites set the stage for an unforgettable evening, followed by a hit-filled performance from legendary soft rock icons Air Supply on their “A Matter of Time Tour”, followed by a fireworks display.

One of this year’s biggest additions is the America250 July 4 Celebration at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, bringing together live entertainment, patriotic performances, and fireworks as part of the nationwide celebration honoring America’s semiquincentennial. The lineup includes Chris Stapleton and The Smashing Pumpkins, plus special guest Chaka Khan and host Queen Latifah.

Downtown Los Angeles comes alive with the return of Gloria Molina Grand Park Summer Block Party. It;s the west coast’s largest free ceelbration for the 4th. Expect live DJs, food vendors, family activities, dancing, and one of the city’s most energetic community celebrations before fireworks light up the skyline.

One of the biggest pop culture events of the year also lands on Fourth of July weekend. Anime Expo (July 2-5) returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center, bringing together more than 100,000 fans for exclusive premieres, celebrity panels, gaming, cosplay, concerts, and the latest anime announcements from around the world.

The long weekend is always a great time for Blockbuster movies. Cinespia kicks off the holiday weekend with a 25th anniversary screening of Shrek (July 3) followed by Steven Spielberg’s classic, Jurassic Park (Jly 4), at Hollywood Forever. Meanwhile, Rooftop Cinema Club will be showing the 4th of July classic Independence Day (1996) starring Will Smith and Goldblum at their outdoor movie experience at LEVEL in Downtown LA.
From the beaches to the valleys, fireworks will illuminate the night sky across Southern California. Popular viewing locations include Marina del Rey’s waterfront fireworks show, The Queen Mary’s (Long Beach) celebration which also honors the historic liner’s 90th anniversary of her Maiden Voyage, Disneyland’s patriotic nighttime spectacular, Universal Studios Hollywood America’s 250th fireworks display and more. Many communities are also hosting parades, live music, and family festivals throughout the weekend.
