Shock-rock legends GWAR are teaming up with drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a new album celebrating more than four decades of GWAR and 40 years of Joe Bob Briggs on television. Due out November 13 via Pit Records, the vinyl release brings together GWAR, The Last Drive-In, and music from John Brennan and the Bigfeet, the show’s house band.
The announcement arrives alongside “Splatter-Fu,” a new single written specifically for GWAR by John Brennan. The song’s official music video is available to watch now:

What Is GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein?
The album brings GWAR’s theatrical brand of shock rock together with the world of Joe Bob Briggs, the longtime film commentator and champion of drive-in horror, exploitation cinema, and gloriously trashy movies.
Side A features GWAR’s live performance from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special. The set combines original GWAR songs with covers of songs associated with Joe Bob’s legendary show.
Side B features John Brennan and the Bigfeet performing music written for the final two seasons of The Last Drive-In. The collection marks the third official soundtrack release from Brennan and the Bigfeet, extending the musical side of the horror series.
In other words, this is a meeting of two worlds that have always understood the appeal of horror, outrageous humor, and entertainment that refuses to behave itself.
GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs Share Their Excitement
GWAR frontman Blöthar celebrated the partnership with a typically unhinged statement.
“Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell! I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it. I was just a calf when creepy Joe Bob reached up my poodle skirt at the last Drive-in. He promised he’d make me a star… Now we’ve made a record together!”
Joe Bob Briggs was equally enthusiastic about the collaboration, explaining how he recruited the intergalactic warriors for the project.
“To create the real spirit of Halloween, I called up my buddies – the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica – and I asked them to bring some fear, some filth, and some fun. Of course you know whom I’m talkin’ about… the Scumdogs of the Universe… GWAR!”

Joe Bob Briggs Has More Drive-In Projects on the Way
The new GWAR collaboration is just one of several projects keeping Joe Bob Briggs busy as The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs approaches its end as a regular series. Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl will reunite for Joe Bob’s Halloween House Party, a seasonal double feature airing live on Shudder on October 23 at 9 p.m. ET, with the special available on demand beginning October 25.
Briggs is also preparing to release an audiobook edition of Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In, narrating the expanded collection of his original drive-in columns, movie reviews, fan letters, and famously unfiltered replies. The DRM-free audiobook is scheduled to arrive digitally on December 15, with pre-orders available through his official website.
Meanwhile, Briggs and Darcy are returning to the world of MonsterVision in a new comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment. MonsterVision Featuring Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy #1, written by David Avallone and illustrated by Edu Menna, finds the drive-in duo embarking on a monster-hunting adventure. The first issue is scheduled to hit comic shops on December 23.
Briggs also has an acting role in the creature feature The Eye from Beyond and has discussed plans for a new television series in 2027, with a focus on forgotten films. Between the Halloween special, audiobook, comic book, creature feature, and potential new show, he has plenty of ways to keep the drive-in spirit alive. Now he can add a collaboration with GWAR to that list.
For GWAR, GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein is another celebration of a legacy spanning more than four decades of intergalactic domination, grotesque spectacle and musical mayhem. For Joe Bob Briggs, it marks 40 years of television history and a career devoted to drive-in movies, horror, exploitation cinema, and the wonderfully strange culture surrounding them.
With “Splatter-Fu” out now, the album arriving November 13, and the “Gor Gor Must Die!” tour starting October 27, fans of GWAR and The Last Drive-In have plenty to look forward to. Two shock icons, more than 80 combined years of cultural carnage, and one very strange record.
