Hammok have announced their second album, When Does This Place Become Our Scene, out June 5 via their new label, Sargent House. After 2022’s EP JUMPING/DANCING/FIGHTING and their 2024 debut LP, Look How Long Lasting Everything Is Moving Forward For Once, the Oslo band’s next full-length shows their love for the hardcore scene.
Lead single “The Scene” was written somewhere in Europe, inspired by the international hardcore fanbases and communities that had welcomed them with open arms. Its video, directed by Christoffer Bya, features Hammok performing in a vast, lush field.

“Everything was a natural response to how good the tour was going and all the people we had met up to that point,” vocalist/guitarist Tobias Osland says. “I wanted to capture and directly address the situation we were in — meeting people for the first time who give a shit about their community and the music around them.”
Hammok formed amid the lockdown, meticulously crafting their songs in place of live shows. “You begin to think sonically, in layers and production, instead of in breakdowns that will make people mosh and go crazy,” Osland says. For When Does This Place Become Our Scene, its concept boils down to a simple question: “What does it mean to be alone?” Osland says. “Is it a strength? Do you feel part of something? A community?”
