Jacob Tierney is adding a little fire to this vintage friendship.
Indeed, the Heated Rivalry creator is teaming up with Jason Bateman to work on Netflix’s upcoming series Alexander, a drama that will explore Alexander the Great’s bond with his tutor and philosopher Aristotle.
The show’s behind-the-scenes staff is already a tight-knit group. Jacob will write the show’s script while his Heated Rivalry teammate Brendan Brady will tag along as an executive producer. Brendan is also sharing the producer duties with Jason and his Aggregate Films partner Michael Costigan, who’ve worked together on Netflix originals like Ozark and Black Rabbit.
According to the streaming service, Alexander is based on Annabel Lyon’s 2009 book The Golden Mean, which sees Alexander—the former king of Macedonia in ancient Greece—and Aristotle building an “unlikely friendship amid palace intrigue, forbidden love, brutal war and ruthless ambitions.”
Their dynamic ultimately “alters the course of history,” and Jacob noted he’s excited to bring that dramatic outcome to the silver screen.
