According to insiders close to the comedian, the Saturday Night Live alum is actually handling his breakup from Elsie Hewitt way better than many fans probably expected. And honestly? That’s saying a lot considering the guy has always been brutally honest about his struggles with mental health and depression over the years.

So, here’s the scoop: sources close to Pete insisted to Page Six on Monday that he’s in surprisingly good spirits after ending things with Elsie just five months after the birth of their daughter, Scottie.
While breakups are never exactly fun — especially when there’s a baby involved — those around the comedian say he’s been sounding happier and more energized than he has in a long time.
Part of that confidence boost may be tied to his recent appearance at Netflix’s Kevin Hart roast, which apparently gave Pete a huge emotional lift. One insider spilled:
“Pete was really funny and no one took shots at him.”
Honestly, for a celebrity roast, that’s practically a miracle! Especially for Pete, who has often been the punchline in public conversations about his dating life, tattoos, and headline-making romances. Friends reportedly felt relieved seeing him genuinely enjoy himself without becoming the center of brutal jokes for once.
And according to insiders, his famous comedian buddies have seriously rallied around him during this rough patch. The support system around Pete sounds stronger than ever right now, with pals making sure he knows he’s not alone while navigating the breakup fallout, the insider claimed:
“The support he’s gotten from people has been great. Everyone at the roast, his friends. He’s getting tons of support.”
That kind of backing probably means everything to Pete right now!
Also, despite the split, sources say there’s still a major focus on keeping things healthy and stable for the sake of baby Scottie. Apparently, Pete is making a real effort to keep things respectful and supportive with Elsie despite whatever personal drama led to the breakup in the first place. The source said:
“He’s always been consistently supportive. He wants her to be in a good place. There’s a baby involved, and that’s their priority.”
And insiders claim he’s putting his money where his mouth is, too. Pete has supposedly been covering expenses tied to Elsie and their daughter, including rent, living costs, and even health insurance, insiders told that outlet.
