Are the Secret Six coming to the DC Universe? Speculation about the Bane and Deathstroke film has fans questioning the project’s true nature.
This past weekend it was announced that a film treatment for a Bane and Deathstroke team-up film set in the DC Universe had been delivered to James Gunn and Peter Safran. This left many fans scratching their heads as, despite them being two of the franchise’s most popular villains, the characters have very little connecting one another.
This led to DC Universe fans doing what they do best: diving into character’s comic histories to pull at straws about what might come to the film. A lot of avenues were pursued when it came to figuring out what goals Bane and Deathstroke would both want to pursue, including shared villains like Batman and even storylines involving Bane’s forgotten daughter Vengeance. However, most speculation seemed to come down to what teams both villains were a part of.
Are The Secret Six Coming To The DC Universe?
When it comes to more serious speculation, two teams stuck out as common denominators for Bane and Deathstroke: the Suicide Squad, and the Secret Six. Though given the first trailer for Creature Commandos suggests that the new DC Universe is leaving Task Force X in the rear view mirror, most fans have settled on the Secret Six as being the true team behind this crossover.
This is backed up by the comics, as the Secret Six is the only one of the two teams to have Deathstroke and Bane appear in the same book, albeit not on the same team. The Villains United storyline brought two teams of villains to come to blows in the DC Universe; The Secret Six featuring Bane and the Secret Society of Super Villains with Deathstroke. All of this was organized by Lex Luthor, who is also set to make his debut in the upcoming Superman film.
There is currently no release date for the reported Bane and Deathstroke team-up film. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
