Kseniya Alexandrova death: Former Miss Universe Russia dies after a collision with an elk, aged 30

Former Miss Universe contestant Kseniya Alexandrova has died following a car collision with an elk. She was 30.

Alexandrova represented Russia in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant, with her husband Ilya sharing that the model died on August 12.

Speaking with Russian news source RIA Novosti, Ilya said the pair hit an elk on July 5 while driving along the country’s M9 highway.

”An elk jumped out from somewhere, jumped out in front of the car,” he shared, per a translation published by Entertainment Weekly.

“From the moment it jumped out until the impact, a split second passed. I did not have time to do anything.

“The elk flew into the car. The blow hit [Kseniya] in the head. She was unconscious, her head was broken, everything was covered in blood.”

He shared that they had both been wearing seatbelts, however their low car collided with the elk’s legs and the airbags did not deploy.

As per People, Ilya told another Russian news outlet, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, other drivers stopped to help and emergency services arrived on the scene within 15 minutes.

Kseniya was transported to the Sklifosovsky Institute for Emergency Medicine in Moscow with severe brain injuries.

After days in a coma, the model succumbed to her injuries on August 12.

Her modelling agency shared a tribute to Instagram, with a translation reading, “Ksenia was bright, talented and extraordinarily bright.”

“She knew how to inspire, support and give warmth to everyone around her. For us she will forever remain a symbol of beauty, kindness and inner strength.”

Kseniya had only been married to her husband for four months, tying the knot in March.

She was also a practicing psychologist, sharing in an Instagram post in 2022 that she had graduated from the Moscow Pedagogical State University.
