Australia is still reeling from the abrupt end to The Kyle and Jackie O Show, but we won’t have to wait much longer for some answers.
A high-stakes legal timeline is now in motion that will dictate what comes next for the former kings of radio – who were on a combined $200 million contract to present the show for 10 years – and it will all kick off this week.
Indeed, all ears will be on KIIS FM on Monday morning at 6am (their usual timeslot) to see who will be filling in Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson or if any further update will be given on their future.
Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small filled in for the duo last week, but he confirmed his last day was on Friday. So far, no announcements have been made about the replacement.

The ‘Remedy’ deadline: Tuesday
After the now infamous on-air stoush between the hosts, a statement from ARN – the parent company of KIIS FM – confirmed Henderson’s contract had been terminated after she could no longer work with Sandilands.

The company also confirmed Sandilands had been suspended while it investigated what was described as alleged “serious misconduct.”
He was given 14 days to remedy the alleged breach.
ARN’s statement was sent out on March 3, while the on-air stoush occured on Febrary 20.
If the 14-day countdown began on March 3, it would mean Sandilands has to “remedy” said breach before 5:30pm on Tuesday, March 17.
However, he may have been handed this request a day prior, thus we could see a response on Monday.
It’s not exactly known what he needs to do to “remedy” said breach, but in his most recent statement he made it clear he wanted back on the airwaves.
“Despite what ARN says, I am not in breach of that contract. I want to be on air. I want to be with my audience. I want to do the job I have done my entire adult life,” he wrote.
“I am asking ARN to do the right thing: honour our agreement and let me get back to doing what I do best – entertaining the people who have supported this show for more than two decades.”
He concluded with a powerful final message: “To my listeners: Thank you. I miss you. I’ll be back.”
The TV return factor: Tuesday Night
Despite his suspension from the KIIS FM show, Sandilands is still the face of Australian Idol.
On Tuesday night, he will appear on-screen in his role as judge in a live broadcast – just hours after the deadline tied to his radio suspension expires.
His appearance could give the outspoken broadcaster an opportunity to address what has happened, or indeed he could stay silent due to it now being a legal issue.
That’s exactly what Henderson is doing.
In her own statement, released to nine.com.au by her manager Gemma O’Neill, she said: “Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about my departure from the show.

“I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign.
“I am deeply saddened by the events of the past week and the possibility of the show ending. This has come as a shock to me, as it has to everyone else.
“It has been truly heartbreaking to see how this has unfolded. At this stage, I am unable to say anything further, as I am addressing this through the appropriate legal channels.”
Grim predictions
Earlier this week, Craig Bruce, who was program director at 2DayFM during the duo’s decade-long reign at the station, made a sad prediction about how this could all turn out.
He says the matter of their 10-year, $200 million contract with ARN will likely head to court and could take years to conclude.
“I think they’ll go to court, they’ll try a settlement where they can retrieve some of the money from their contract – that’s going to take a couple of years,” Bruce said.
“So I think there’s a world where we won’t hear either of them, together or separately, on the radio for two or three years.”
The Verdict
By Friday, we should know more on what the future holds for the radio duo.
The duo were barely into the $200 million contract they signed with ARN in 2023, which was meant to keep the pair on air until the end of 2034.
It could be that Sandilands does “remedy” his breach and returns to air as he intends, perhaps with a new co-host. Or, we could see a complete shake-up with all new hosts.
If no deal is reached, expect the lawyers to take centre stage for what could be a multi-year, multi-million dollar legal battle.
