L7’s longtime bassist Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Her loved ones shared the news today on her Instagram, asking the community to rally around her.
“After her diagnosis, there was hope that treatment would give her a path back to some version of normal life,” the statement says. “Instead, complications brought multiple surgeries and a relentless series of setbacks. Jennifer is now living with significant physical limitations and requires a level of care that love, friendship, and sheer determination cannot safely provide around the clock.”

To support her recovery, a GoFundMe has been created to cover medical expenses and care.
“We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love,” vocalist/guitarist Donita Sparks says. “Jennifer is family, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”
The GoFundMe, which has already raised over $50,000 within a few hours, will gather funds to help cover in-home nursing care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essential care. In addition to the medical assistance, the funds will help preserve her legacy by “creating an archive of her artistic and creative work,” and to complete a creative project she was working on to be released in 2027.
