Technical issues left thousands of fans stranded outside Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium as Lady Gaga took to the stage last night.
Issues were first discovered during the Applause singer’s sound check, causing the gates to open at 5.50pm instead of the planned 5pm.
It meant that by the show’s allocated start time of 7pm, thousands of ticket-holders were still locked out of the stadium, according to fans who documented the chaos online.
The show was delayed until 7.40pm, however, swarms of people were still outside the stadium when Gaga took to the stage.
Hundreds of videos of the chaos in line were posted to TikTok, with one fan claiming they were “at a standstill” for 2.5 hours trying to get in.
One showed fans standing in a packed crowd outside of the stadium, with the sound of Lady Gaga‘s opening set echoing in the background.
Another video showed the crowd stuck outside Gate B with the caption, “Half of GA being outside for the start of the show because [they] couldn’t work out how to organise a crowd.”

Despite the reports of technical issues, other fans expressed a lack of organisation caused further blockages.
One concertgoer Lily (@lilyapt7) posted a video explaining the gate she was at had run out of wristbands, causing a further delay.
“They finally opened the door up, we got in to scan our tickets and then [got stuck],” she explained.
“They ran out of wristbands, [the worker] said she had run out of wristbands and had to find her manager.”

“It’s almost like you know exactly how many people are going to be coming through this gate and exactly how many wristbands you’re going to need.”
“We didn’t get in before the concert started…we cried, we missed two songs.”
A Suncorp Stadium spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald 95 per cent of ticket holders were in the venue by 7.52pm, 12 minutes after the show’s already delayed start.
“This delay resulted in a backlog of patrons queuing on the stadium’s external plazas,” the spokesman told the outlet.
“This backlog exacerbated the already delayed entry, resulting in patrons experiencing unusually long wait times.”
“The venue, as always, will perform an extensive debrief with all stakeholders in the coming days,” the spokesman said.
