A new batch of behind-the-scenes photos from the UK set of Robert Eggers‘ Werwulf movie has arrived online, featuring a first look at Lily-Rose Depp‘s character. The period horror drama is scheduled to hit the theaters on December 25, 2026.
What do the Werwulf set photos show?
Shared on X, the new set photos show Depp wearing prosthetic makeup for her mysterious character, who has a cleft lip. In one of the photos, she can also be seen holding a baby. This unrecognizable transformation is starkly different from the character she played in Nosferatu, which served as her first collaboration with Eggers. In addition, Willem Dafoe was also featured in one of the set photos, showing the acclaimed actor riding a horse.

Werwulf is being directed by Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón. The story will take place in 13th-century England. It will be led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will also be joined by Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson. The movie is produced by Eggers, Tim Bevan, Garett Bird, Eric Fellner, and Sjón. It is executive-produced by Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus. The creative team includes cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, production designer Craig Lathrop, makeup and hair designer Christine Blundell, and special makeup effects artist Chris Lyons.
In a previous Q&A event, Eggers described his upcoming Werwulf movie as the “darkest thing” he’s ever written. The filmmaker is best known for his directorial works on 2015’s The Witch, 2019’s The Lighthouse, 2022’s The Northman, and 2024’s Nosferatu, which have earned Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Besides Werwulf, Eggers is also currently attached to helm a Labyrinth sequel.
