Love, Death + Robots Vol. 4 Trailer Sets Voice Cast Including Kevin Hart, John Boyega, & More

Netflix has revealed the official Love, Death + Robots Vol. 4 trailer for the highly anticipated return of the hit adult-animated anthology series. The next installment is scheduled to start streaming on May 15, with ten new episodes.

Love, Death + Robots is executive produced by Deadpool’s Tim Miller, Fincher, Jennifer Miller, and Joshua Donen, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson set as a supervising director. A reimagining of the 1981 animated sci-fi film Heavy Metal, this Emmy-winning adult animated series is aimed towards adults with stories that go across every genre from science fiction, comedy, fantasy, and horror.

What happens in the Love, Death + Robots Vol. 4 trailer?

The video provides fans with a closer look at the next season’s new stories, with acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher directing one of the episodes. It also teases its all-star voice cast, including Kevin Hart, John Boyega, Brett Goldstein, and Dan Stevens.

Listed below are the official cast and directors for each episode of Vol. 4:

  • “Can’t Stop” – Directed by Fincher, this episode will feature the Red Hot Chili Peppers, including members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante. It will tell a unique take on the iconic band’s legendary 2003 performance at Slane Castle, Ireland, with recreated as string-puppets. The cast will feature the voices of Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante, Chad Smith. It is a production by Blur Studio.
  • “Close Encounters of The Mini Kind” – This episode hails from writer-directors Robert Bisi and Andy Lyon, with BUCK serving as its animation studio. Tiny terror is unleashed in this mini alien apocalypse as directors Robert Bisi and Andy Lyon pay loving tribute to classic sci-fi stories of alien invasion and human stupidity using tilt-shift techniques that make the end of the world look almost cute.
  • “Spider Rose” – This episode returns fans to the fantastic cyberpunk universe of Swarm from Vol. 3. It hails from visionary sci-fi author Bruce Sterling and directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, with Blur Studio set as its animation studio. The voice cast includes Emily O’Brien, Feodor Chin, Piotr Michael & Sumalee MontanoThe story takes place on a remote asteroid mining operation, where a grieving Mechanist gets a new companion and has a chance to avenge herself against the Shaper assassin who killed her husband.
  • “400 Boys” – In a post-apocalyptic city where warring gangs follow a bushido-like code of honor, a new gang, the 400 Boys, forces them to unite. The episode is directed by Robert Valley from a screenplay written by Tim Miller, based on the short story by Marc Laidlaw. The voice cast includes John Boyega, Ed Skrein, Sienna King, Dwane Walcott, Rahul Kohli, Pamela Nomvete, and Amar Chadha-Patel. It is a production by Passion Animation.
  • “The Other Large Thing” – This episode will feature the voices of Chris Parnell, John Oliver, Fred Tatasciore, and Rachel Kimsey, with Last Week Tonight host John Oliver. It is directed by Patrick Osborne from a screenplay written by John Scalzi. The story centers around a cat who plans for world domination. Sanchez, as his puny human “pets” know him, is helped by a new robotic butler who can hack into the World Wide Web and is eager to help his new master.
  • “Gogoltha” – The episode is directed by Tim Miller from a screenplay written by Joe Abercrombie, based on the short story by Dave Hutchinson. The cast includes Rhys Darby, Moe Daniels, Graham McTavish, Phil Morris, Michelle Lukes and Matthew Waterson. In a rare live-action entry in Love, Death + Robots, a conscientious vicar– plays host to an emissary of an alien race who believes their messiah has been reborn on earth… as a dolphin. So, uh… yeah, Dolphin-Jesus.
  • “The Screaming of The Tyrannosaur” – Written and directed by Miller, based on a short story by Stant Litore. Featuring the voices of MrBeast and Bai Ling, the show takes place on a space station orbiting Jupiter, decadent aristocrats gather to witness a brutal contest of genetically modified gladiators — fierce combatants riding deadly, engineered dinosaurs.
  • “How Zeke Got Religion” – The show hails from director Digeo Porral and writer J.T. Petty, based on the short story by John McNichol. It will feature the voices of Keston John, Braden Lynch, Roger Craig Smith, Gary Furlong, Bruce Thomas, Andrew Morgado, and Scott Whyte. It is a production by Titmouse. In the film, B-17 Flying Fortress Liberty Belle has the oddest mission of World War Two: a journey into occupied France to bomb a church before the Nazis can raise an ancient evil.
  • “Smart Appliances, Stupid Owners” – The episode is directed by Patrick Osbourne from a screenplay written by John Scalzi. It is a production by Aaron Sims Creative. The voice cast includes Melissa Villaseñor, Ronny Chieng, Amy Sedaris, Kevin Hart, Josh Brener, Nat Faxon, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Brett Goldstein. From an angry toothbrush to an overworked smart showerhead and an intelligent toilet, various household appliances divulge tales of bemusement, scorn, and wonder about their human owners.
  • “For He Can Creep” – Set in London, 1757, the story centers around a poet confined to an insane asylum believes Satan wants him to write a verse that will end the world. And the only thing standing between him and the Prince of Darkness is his cat, Jeoffry. Emily Dean directed from a screenplay written by Tamsyn Muir, based on the adaptation of Siobhan Carroll’s short story. The cast includes Dan Stevens, JB Blanc, Jim Broadbent, Nika Futterman, Jane Leeves, and Dave B. Mitchell. It is a production by Polygon Pictures Inc.
