One of Magnolia's biggest themes is about kids who are valued only for what they can provide, grow up not knowing how to love themselves. Donnie was beloved world wide when he was "The Quiz Kid", but once he aged out, the world moved on. Nobody taught him how to be a happy, healthy, functioning adult. He spent his childhood being treated like a commodity, instead of a son. Now grown up, his life has became a series of gaffes as he's left chasing that childhood validation. submitted by /u/MachineHeart |
