A new World Series promo for Avengers: Doomsday has Marvel fans rewatching the first trailer frame by frame. They believe one group shot was altered, and the new footage may reveal who Marvel removed.
Fans are sure Steve Rogers was edited out of Avengers: Doomsday’s first trailer
Online theorists have settled on Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, as the missing figure. IGN reports that the new angle appears to place him beside Ben Grimm, in a spot that looked empty in the earlier trailer. The one-minute spot aired during Game 1 of the 2026 World Series and landed on MLB’s X account. Most of it is a baseball crossover. The Fantastic Four play a game at Ebbets Field on Earth-828 while MLB stars Bryce Harper, Freddie Freeman, Junior Caminero, Randy Arozarena, and Jacob Misiorowski watch and react.
That extra footage revisits a scene where the New Avengers meet veteran heroes and the Fantastic Four. The original trailer showed an odd space between the Earth-828 characters, and many viewers read it as evidence of a deleted character. According to the outlet, the new angle shows Steve standing next to Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm while Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang tries to entertain the group. Evans never appeared in the first version of the shot, so fans see the new clip as proof of an edit. One X user argued that Steve’s spot beside Ben, Sam, and Scott settles the matter.
Plenty of viewers disagree. It’s been pointed out that Steve shows up elsewhere in the same trailer, so concealing him in one shot would make little sense. Some fans think nothing was edited at all and that the new clip simply catches the scene seconds before or after the original frame. Additionally, the most popular alternative says Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is in disguise.
Marvel has not yet commented on the ongoing rumor. Still, the idea has precedent, as marketing for Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 included scenes that never made it to the film. Expect the scrutiny to continue until the release day.
