This is the second mastectomy for Eggert, who went public with her diagnosis of stage 2 cribriform carcinoma in January 2024.
She told People she initially thought her symptoms – including weight gain over a three-month period and “terrible pain” in one breast – were menopause-related.
“It really was throbbing and hurting. I immediately went to my general practitioner and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at,” she said.

That was October; she had to wait until late November for an available appointment. A mammogram and three biopsies revealed she had breast cancer.
“I have panics where I’m like, just get this out of me,” the Charles in Charge star continued.
“You sit there and it’s in you and you’re like, every second that passes and it’s inside of me. It’s growing, and you’re just like, you just want it out.”

Eggert has kept fans updated on social media accounts, including Instagram, throughout her treatment.
This has included a mastectomy, lymph node removal, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Speaking to Fox News about her initial mastectomy, she described the procedure as “strange”.
“I kind of went into it thinking they were just going to remove the breast tissue, and you recover from stitches and scars and like, that’s it,” she said.
“But there’s so much more to it, because they cut through so many nerves. So that sensation and getting used to that is very bizarre.”
Last year, she told People that while her body “fully responded to the chemo” and meant there was “no detectable cancer in that area,” she still had to undergo further treatment.
