October mostly succeeded by offering scary games, but the spooky season is already almost over. With that in mind, it’s time to look into the next round of free games. Nothing has leaked regarding the November games yet, but we still have our own ideas. We’ve gone through our own wishlists and the PlayStation store to bring you educated predictions on the next PlayStation Plus games. The official lineup should be revealed sometime around Oct. 26, as they are usually announced on the last Thursday of the month.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
The last couple of years have been big for superhero games. Marvel’s Midnight Suns came right in the middle of Gotham Knights in October 2022 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in October 2023. While those games are from two different comic giants, it proves that fans still hunger for superhero experiences. Gotham Knights was released onto the PlayStation Plus Catalogue in October 2023, and it’s only a couple of months older than Midnight Suns.
For that reason, we think it’s a perfect time for this somewhat off-beat offering to hit a similar service. As Midnight Suns is more of a turn-based strategy game, it breaks the mold from the action-oriented titles and thus might’ve gotten less focus. The game has been on deep discount lately, so it’s a good sign it might be free through PS Plus soon.
Chernobylite
Chernobylite exists as a game I would like to call Fallout-lite. Name jokes aside, it does borrow certain ideas from Bethesda RPGs, but it still manages to be its own thing. Taking place 30 years after the Chernobyl disaster, a strange green rock dubbed Chernobylite has been strewn around the Exclusion Zone. A scientist named Igor looks to sneak into the Exclusion Zone to find the fiancee who went missing when the disaster happened.
The game features many choices that all have an impact on available allies or the zone’s evolution. Thanks to the Chernobylite, whenever Igor dies, he can rewrite the past and undo or change certain choices. This neat mechanic is what makes Chernobylite unique because you can instantly correct mistakes and suddenly be in an entirely different story with other outcomes.
Dysmantle
Sticking to the open-world idea from Chernobylite to also enter Dysmantle into the list of possible games. Imagine a game in which the world is cluttered with stuff, but you can break it all. From fences to cars and even the walls of buildings, everything can be destroyed (or dismantled) in Dysmantle. Oh, and all of this is happening in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
Your character emerges from a bunker at the worst time to find that all the surrounding area has been taken over by zombies. Fortunately, they are all rather weak to crowbars and other melee weapons. Dysmantle also features similar mechanics to souls-likes, where dying just means you restart from the nearest campfire, and all enemies respawn. However, there is a way to make it so that the zombies don’t respawn, truly allowing you to clear all obstacles and enemies from existence.
