NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has shared an update on Teddy Swims’ vocal health ahead of his Grand Final performance on Sunday.
There were concerns that the 33-year-old singer would be unable to perform at this weekend’s clash between the Brisbane Broncos and the Melbourne Storm at Accor Stadium after he was forced to cancel upcoming shows due to a voice issue.
Abdo has since assured NRL fans that Swims is on the mend.
“We had confirmation that he’s making a great recovery and his voice is in great shape, so he’ll be good for Sunday,” Abdo told NewsWire.
“We’re really excited because he’s an artist who appeals to so many different people.
“Just take my family for example. If he’s playing on Spotify, then everyone is enjoying his music.”

Swims cancelled the remaining shows on his Hawaii tour after losing his voice mid-performance during a show on the weekend.
He later shared a statement on Instagram apologising to fans.
”Honolulu, I’m so sorry to let you know that both tonight’s show (Saturday Sept 27th) and tomorrow’s (Sunday Sept 28th) rescheduled performance will not be taking place,” he wrote.
“My doctor has not cleared me to sing, and I need a little more time to recover before I can give you the show you deserve.”
All tickets for the cancelled shows will be refunded.
“I hate to disappoint you and truly apologise for letting you down,” he continued.
“Thank you for your love, patience, and understanding.
“I can’t wait until I’m back and able to sing for you again.”
When asked by nine.com.au earlier this week if Swims would still be performing, Glenn Jackson, General Manager Media and Communications for the NRL, said: “Absolutely.”
Jackson said he certainly understood concerns over Swims after he cancelled shows in Hawaii due to vocal problems, but reassured fans the performance was still going ahead.
“We’ve been saying for days he’s coming,” he added.
Swims’ performance’s at the NRLW Grand Final and the NRL Grand Final comes days before he begins his Australian and New Zealand tour.
The tour kicks off at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on October 14.
He’d flown all the way to Australia for the show
Swims said in a statement earlier this year he was “so excited to be performing at the 2025 NRL Grand Final”.
“Australia has always been a second home to me”.
“Every time I am there I am overwhelmed by how welcoming the people are, I fall more in love with the culture, and just everything about it.
“So, to be welcomed to perform one of the biggest nights in Australia is a huge honour.”
Swims is a Grammy nominated, multi-platinum chart-topping superstar, best known for his hits like Lose Control and Bad Dreams.
His music has been described as a blend of soul, country, and pop.
Swims originally began to attract fans by posting song covers on YouTube in 2019 and 2020 before hitting the big time in 2023 with the release of his debut studio album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1).
