Cardi B’s estranged husband, Offset, is being sued by a security guard amid his mounting tax troubles.
Us Weekly obtained court documents on Saturday, November 1, that show security guard Jim Sanchez filed a suit alleging assault, battery and intentional affliction of emotional distress against Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) over the rapper’s disastrous visit to the MedMen LAX dispensary in March. Sanchez alleged that Offset “became hostile, verbally confrontational, and physically attacked Plaintiff by striking him in the face” when asked to show identification. Sanchez accused several others of joining in to “further assault and batter” him during the altercation. The security guard claimed that he was eventually taken to a local hospital by paramedics due to suffering severe head and neck pain.
Offset’s representative previously previously told TMZ that a dispensary guard rushed him and spit in the hip-hop star’s face during the dispute over showing identification. His spokesperson denied that Offset initiated the violence.

Meanwhile, Us exclusively reported on Wednesday, October 29 that Offset was hit by a new six-figure lien from the IRS that brings the total of his unpaid tax bill to over $2.3 million. The government agency alleged on October 15 that Offset owed $486,426.35 in taxes for 2023 and previously filed a separate lien in 2024 for $1,575,266.73 in taxes for 2022.
In March, the Georgia Department of Revenue filed a lien of $292,000 for 2021. The original sum of $167,916 had ballooned due to interest ($53,000), penalties ($40,000), and collection fees ($33,000) that the government said that Offset owed.
Offset is also battling a $232,000 judgment against him over an alleged assault at a Florida strip club, after Leamsy Izquierdo and Humberto Crespo accused him of attacking them at the venue in 2021. According to court documents obtained by Us, Izquierdo and Crespo formally filed to begin the collection process against Offset earlier this year.

The suit came about due to an alleged confrontation with Offset over his then-wife Cardi B being pelted with champagne by someone in the club. Izquierdo and Crespo denied having anything to do with spraying the champagne, but they accused Offset of suddenly walking into the crowd to attack them.
A Miami judge granted the alleged victims’ request for a default judgment late last year, but Offset asked for the judgment to be thrown out in April because he claimed to have never received necessary legal documents. A hearing will take place in February 2026.
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in August 2024 after six years of marriage. The two previously split in 2018 but later reconciled. They share three children: Kulture Kiari Cephus, 7, son Wave, 4, and daughter Blossom, 1. (Offset also has three other children from previous relationships.)

“[The divorce] has been a long time coming and is amicable,” Cardi B’s spokesperson told Us at the time.
During an October appearance on the “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” podcast, Offset admitted to having regrets about the demise of his marriage.
“I should have respected her way more. I made bad decisions, like stepping out,” Offset told host Keke Palmer. “Gotta take that on the chin. When she left, I had to take that on the chin. … We got so much, our kids, to live for. I was being selfish, and I can say that as a man.”
Cardi B went public with her new boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, in June and subsequently denied that they’d split up three months later. The couple are expecting their first baby together.
