WARNING! Spoilers ahead for FBI season 7, episode 14, “Hitched.”

FBI season 7, episode 14, “Hitched,” finally takes a step that makes it appear that OA and Maggie will move toward romance. Ironically, the two only shared one scene in the latest FBI season 7 episode. “Hitched” begins with what is supposed to be a relaxing vacation for OA (Zeeko Zaki) and Gemma (Comfort Clinton). OA has a romantic surprise planned and has booked tickets on a train to Niagara Falls for the two of them while the rest of the New York Field Office team works on the case of a murdered train employee.

OA’s trip soon turns dangerous, however, when the villains use the victim’s stolen work ID to hijack the train. The perps quickly escalate matters during FBI season 7, episode 14. Gemma is shot and OA is tied up so that he can’t help her — but not before he manages to sneak a text to Maggie (Missy Peregrym). Thus, Maggie is desperately trying to save OA and the other hostages without being able to contact him while OA is negotiating his own release so he can save his girlfriend.

Gemma’s Near-Death Experience Made OA Realize How Much He Loves Her

OA Is Terrified Of Losing Gemma

The hijackers refuse to free OA’s hands so that he can give Gemma emergency medical assistance after she is shot. They think that OA will try to overpower them if they don’t keep him restrained. This creates a tense situation for OA in which he first calls for a doctor, then directs the villains to render emergency assistance using the first aid kit, tea bags, and bottled water. Throughout this ordeal, OA pleads with the perps to help Gemma, saying, “Please… I love her.“

Are Maggie & OA Okay? I’m Starting To Get Worried About FBI’s Best Partnership

Maggie and OA aren’t in a great place right now. The latest developments in FBI have made me start to worry about the procedural’s best couple.

The entire ordeal makes OA realize he deeply loves Gemma. After stabilizing her and convincing the perps to let him go, OA has to decouple the passenger car from the driver’s cabin in order to save everyone else on the train, while he stays behind and risks his life — and never seeing Gemma again. Additionally, when the crisis is over and Gemma is safely in the hospital, OA questions whether his attempts to disarm the hijackers early on led to Gemma’s near-death experience, and his guilt causes him to break down in tears.

FBI Season 7, Episode 4 Also Forced Maggie To Reveal Her True Feelings About OA

She Was Cut Off From Communication While Trying To Save The Train Passengers

Maggie’s job during the hijacking is made harder by her knowledge that OA was on board that train. She isn’t able to communicate with him for a long stretch of time, so she doesn’t know if he is alive or dead after the team hears gunshots. Later, when she is dispatched to help with the rescue effort, she immediately asks the people in charge to force a train stop about OA’s chances, but they are unable to guarantee his safety. Thus, Maggie is left with no real way to control OA’s fate.

Maggie checks on OA immediately after the crisis is over and holds him while he cries about his guilt over Gemma’s condition.

This situation is difficult for Maggie, and it proves how deeply she cares for OA. She would do anything to rescue him, and her feelings seem far more intense than they would be if he were simply a friend or a work partner, even if they have been working together for nearly a decade. Additionally, Maggie checks on OA immediately after the crisis is over and holds him while he cries about his guilt over Gemma’s condition. The hug is brief and likely meant to be platonic, but it could easily be the start of something more.

What A Maggie, OA, And Gemma Love Triangle Could Mean For The Rest Of FBI Season 7

OA Would Have To Make An Impossible ChoiceFBI OA standing and listening to Isobel

If Maggie develops romantic feelings for OA, it would lead to an exciting conflict. Love triangles can be hit or miss — sometimes it’s too obvious which pairing is supposed to win out or one person in the triangle is toxic to the object of their affection. Additionally, FBI needs to be careful to remain focused on cases rather than drifting into soap opera territory. However, in this case, FBI‘s OA and Maggie are an extremely popular pairing, while OA’s deep feelings for Gemma make it harder for him to walk away. Thus, any romantic rivalry between Maggie and Gemma would make for strong drama.

FBI’s 4th Show May Be Setting The Stage For OA & Maggie’s Much-Clamored Romance

The newest FBI spinoff offers an opportunity to resolve a major problem interfering with OA and Maggie beginning a romantic relationship.

FBI season 7 could take this storyline in several directions. Maggie might decide to ignore or actively suppress any romantic feelings for OA out of respect for his relationship with Gemma. OA will undoubtedly get closer to Gemma after this ordeal, but may also continue to lean on Maggie for emotional support. It’s unlikely, however, that this arc will be resolved in any significant way by the end of the season. Instead, the season could begin the process of establishing the triangle, with more to come when FBI season 8 premieres in the fall.
