Welp. Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet might not be coming to the UK after all.
In a strange turn of events, the Sussex family confirmed their 5-day travel plans on Friday, according to DailyMail.com, only to completely backtrack just a day later! A source said:
“On Friday night the Sussex office issued an op [operational] note saying that the full family would be coming to the UK and they had accepted royal accommodation. Next day they pull out.”

The source accused them of scamming the public for promo:
“It’s a total joke and a farce. They are totally playing into the hands of those who say they court drama like this to sell Meghan’s jam.”
Jeez! So, what really happened??
Apparently, the Duke was informed later on Friday that he’d failed to secure taxpayer-funded security for the July visit. A source told The Guardian on Sunday:
“Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour.”
DM sources said Harry was told last week that the Home Office‘s review into his family’s risk assessment had been “paused” — meaning his taxpayer-funded security won’t extend past royal residences at this time. On Saturday, a source close to the couple accused the Home Office of “willfully creating conditions that are making it nearly impossible” for them to move around the country.

How frustrating to deal with legal setbacks like this, especially since this would’ve been a huge moment for the family to reconnect amid King Charles III‘s cancer battle.
Now, Harry is “looking at every option to try and get” his wife and kids to England “safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground.” The Guardian‘s source stressed:
“If he can find a way to do that, he will.”
There had been reports that, along with offering them royal housing, Charles had also said he’d help with security arrangements. But it doesn’t seem like that’s still on the table, if it ever really was.
The Spare author is now “distraught.” On why he refuses to bring his kids without proper safety measures, an insider said he doesn’t want them being “chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane.” The insider urged:
“He won’t put his children through that.”
Fair! There have also been some real security concerns for Harry lately. A DailyMail.com insider pointed out that even though Harry plans to bring his own private security, there are still real risks posed by the trip:
“The precarious security situation and endless speculation about where the family will stay is making the planning and logistics for the private security team increasingly difficult. There have been three separate incidents in the UK in less than 12 months that we know of, each involving a fixated person getting to within feet of the Duke. In some circumstances, because of the limitations on what private security have the authority to do, they weren’t able to remove the person. Harry is a big guy, a former soldier and generally pretty robust when it comes to handling these incidents. It’s what impact such moments would have on the kids that everyone is most concerned about.”
One option on the table is that Meg and the kids may fly in and out of Britain for a one-day visit. Harry’s been told by those at Buckingham Palace that there is still “hope” a meeting with his father could happen. So, not all hope is lost on the trip, but this is still a huge blow.
