A new teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Peacemaker Season 2 has been released.
Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max this coming August. Gunn serves as the showrunner on Peacemaker Season 2, which will see John Cena reprise his role as Christopher Smith.

What happens in the Peacemaker Season 2 teaser trailer?
The Peacemaker Season 2 trailer sees Cena’s character and Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. try to kill one another, as Grillo serves as the main antagonist of the season. Grillo’s character is the son of Rick Flag Jr., who was played by Joel Kinnaman in 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2021’s The Suicide Squad.
How Peacemaker Season 2 deals with continuity changes, given that Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad were both set in the DCEU and the new Peacemaker season is part of Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, remains to be seen; however, Gunn has stated that the topic will be addressed.
“The new season follows Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost,” the official logline reads.
Peacemaker Season 2 also stars Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Strom as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as August “Auggie” Smith/White Dragon, Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, and Nhut Le as Judomaster.
Additionally, David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. Clair, Dorian Kingi, and Brandon Stanley are playing undisclosed roles.
Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21, 2025. The new season will have eight episodes in total.
Prior to that, Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. can be seen in Gunn’s Superman, which releases in United States theaters this coming July, after the character first made his DCU debut in animated form in 2023’s Creature Commandos. After Peacemaker Season 2, the DCU continues in 2026 with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lanterns, and Clayface.
