As Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ new action drama The Bluff arrives on Prime Video, early reviews have brought renewed attention to the movie. Initial critical reactions and its Rotten Tomatoes score have positioned The Bluff among the platform’s newly released streaming titles drawing discussion.
Priyanka Chopra’s The Bluff gets middling reviews
The Bluff has drawn a divided response from major publications and film portals.
Owen Myers of The Guardian wrote, “Chopra Jonas gamely commits to the pulpiness of The Bluff, even as it doesn’t ask much of her beyond its impressive action sequences and a few tart one-liners. But there’s cinematic swoop to the movie that you might not expect.”
George Simpson of Daily Express (UK) stated, “Yes, it’s all a bit trashy, but in the best and most explosive way possible.”
William Bibbiani of TheWrap wrote, “‘The Bluff’ isn’t a bad pirate movie. If anything, it has so little competition these days that it’s probably ‘the best pirate movie in years’ by default. But that’s damning the film with faint praise, or possibly praising it with faint damnation.”
Abhishek Srivastava of The Times of India wrote, “While the script could have benefited from deeper character exploration, the film succeeds in showcasing Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a capable and confident action lead, proving she can command a large-scale adventure on her own terms.”
Gregory Nussen of Screen Rant stated, “The script, by Flowers and Joe Ballarini, is mostly bare-bones, with an appreciable efficiency, quickly becoming a ninety-minute showcase for extremely tense, bloody fight choreography.”
Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com wrote, “‘The Bluff’ is supported by periodic aggression, as dramatic interests aren’t exactly thrilling, making the viewing experience more enjoyably visceral than engrossing.”
