Emily Simpson said Carmella Garcia’s story “doesn’t make a lot of sense,” and she has a lot of “questions.” The Real Housewives of Orange County star also revealed why she told Carmella what Gina Kirschenheiter was saying behind her back.
On the new season, Emily told Carmella that Gina (Emily’s good friend) was questioning why Carmella gifted Emily a vibrator and a Dior purse for her birthday. But when Gina told Emily that this hurt her feelings, Emily seemed convinced that she didn’t do anything wrong.
In a different scene, Emily questioned Carmella on her relationship status. As of now, Carmella is living with her boyfriend, Danny, though she’s still legally married to her husband, Jeff Garcia. Carmella then shared that Emily’s continual questions made her feel insecure.
On After The Edit with Daryn Carp, Emily denied that she was trying to pinpoint something with her questions to Carmella.
“I was just naturally curious,” Emily insisted, “because I just met her. I know nothing about her. And also, you know, her story lends to a lot of follow-up questions because what she was saying doesn’t make a lot of sense.”
“I mean, she starts out with like: she’s married, but they’re not together, but it’s been a long time,” she continued. “But she has, like, the new boyfriend. … There’s a lot of questions. … I’m not the kind of person that just sits and says, ‘Uh-huh.’ Like, I need it to make sense.”
Emily was later asked why she told Carmella about Gina’s complaints.
“So I thought, why not give this girl a heads up, you know, of like what people are saying so she comes in with like a little armor,” said Emily, who added that she doesn’t regret it. “Gina has shared so many things with me that I would never say a word. And she knows that. So the fact that, like, I gave Carmella a heads-up about a vibrator in a Dior bag? I mean…”
New episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County air Thursday nights on Bravo.
