Rob Lowe’s youngest son, John Owen Lowe, has broken his silence in the wake of his cousin’s death with a heartbreaking poem shared to social media.
The 30-year-old, whom Rob shares with his wife, Sherl Berkoff, took to his Instagram stories over the weekend to post Emily Dickinson’s famous poem “Hope Is the Thing With Feathers”, in what was his first message since Fiona Lowe’s death on September 29.
“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all,” the poem read. “And sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm. I’ve heard it in the chillest land, and on the strangest sea; yet, never, in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.”
John Owen’s post comes just days after he was seen with his dad at the Los Angeles home of Fiona’s father, Chad Lowe, who is Rob’s brother. The duo arrived to support Chad and his family through the difficult time.
Losing Fiona
Life Goes On actor Chad welcomed his three daughters Mabel, 17, Fiona, 13, and Nixie, 10, with his wife, Kim Painter. The couple shared a statement to People announcing the loss of their child, who had died by suicide.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” they said. “She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

Family support
Mabel paid tribute to her late sister in a heart-wrenching social media post that included photos of Fiona and herself together over the years.
“I love you so much, Fiona,” she wrote in the caption. “I wish your short time here was easier, and I hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.”
Fiona’s grandfather, Chuck Lowe, also paid tribute to the dancer, writing: “Rest in peace sweet Fiona” alongside a photo of her swimming in a pool.
A tough time
Chad’s family endured a tough time after their Los Angeles home was burned down in the Pacific Palisades fires of January 2025. The 58-year-old shared how proud he was of his daughters and their resilience in the face of losing their home in a moving Instagram post.
“Almost a month after we evacuated, our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
